Purely for fun, I thought I would start up another of these fantasy threads in which we discuss guns that we always thought would be cool, but never got made. In the spirit of the thread, you may mention guns that were produced in small quantities (that is, "Rare" guns) but are very hard to find or you may simply list a dream gun or a gun you know about that never got off the drawing board.

For me, it's pretty simple. I always thought a .357 in a 1911 frame would be sweet, and those that have shot Coonans (which I have literally never seen) affirm that this is so.

+1 to trickyasafox, another kel-tec thought

trickyasafox suggested a .22LR folding camp rifle from Kel-Tec, and that's certainly one I'd like to see. In fact, I hope that one day Kel-Tec can have a nice family of rifles in the SU-2000 mold in .22, 9mm (they make it in .40), and . 45.

(Having just looked over their website again, I notice that there are more varieties of the Kel-Tec .223 rifles than I realized -- good for them.)

Another two things I'd like to see from Kel-Tec:

1) a P11-style pistol in .45. Surely they could put at least 6 rounds in the same size frame, or perhaps a half-inch longer if that would appreciably speed up the bullet.

2) A frame just a bit more ergonomically shaped -- I have no (deep) desire for a Makarov because I'd rather stick with ultra-common (rather than merely common) ammunition, but I find the grip shape is one of the most comfortable I've ever held. The P11 is pretty close in overall size, but I wish it had a hand-fitting curve like the Makarov does.

+1 for Rembrandt's post

And in addition, as long as we're dreaming, a C96 "Broomhandle" Mauser in .45 ACP... with detachable box magazines in 7-, 14- and 21-round capacities.

Rembrandt: Is that an actual example of the legendary .45 ACP Luger prototype, or a Photoshop approximation?

Single stack 1911 in 38 spl. I don't know why either.
Or a single stack 1911 in 45 LC. That would be super duper cool. It would have to be able to handle the corbon DPX 45LC @ 255gr at 1100 fps.......... Who needs a desert eagle.....
I think I have a 1911 problem...

Wow, do some of you even bother to read the thread before you post?

Glock!

1911!

Hoo Ray!

:p

you read my mind.

357 Coonan

to TimboKhan

I "had" a .357 Coonan with a 38 Special conversion kit. It was SSWEET!!

Stainless Steel with wood grips on a 1911 frame

Wish I had it back!!

A high capacity, self loading, self cleaning with free ammunition and tacticool options at an affordable price. any caliber.

Dan Wesson with a 2, 4, 8, and 17 in barrels, with a pistol grip and rifle stock, in any of the SuperMags or 454. Except made by Freedom Arms.

The photo is one of the original .45's built....some controversy about how many were made, some say six. A few years ago a 45 cal Luger carbine surfaced that had serial number #21. The controversy continues.....

Well, while not handguns (and this really should have been in general gun. sorry), I like the idea of a Kel-Tec .22 camp rifle as well. Just as long as the magazines are nice and easy to load.

Handgun specifically, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see a Mak produced new and maybe in some different calibers, and even though they aren't particularly practical, a new broomhandle would be cool as well. The luger idea is one I see a lot, and I can dig it.

Qualified answer

This gun was made, and there are maybe four or five of them out there, but it is a custom job that maybe the factory should consider.

A Ruger Bearcat in .32 H&R Magnum.

I got to shoot serial number 2 or 3, and it was a sweet honey of a gun. :p

The Doc is out now.
