I have done some training for new business people. They told us that names that have the owners name in the title or initials are not a good idea.
You need to take advantage of every opportunity you have to tell your customer what they need to hear.
Look for benefits and not features. "Gun shop" That's a feature. "Timely firearms" that's a benefit. They know what you do. They are looking for a gun shop when they look in the phone book. Tell them what makes you stand out from all others. I would avoid the "discount guns" approach. This will bring a clientele that is looking for price only. Only one person can sell guns the cheapest. Don't be in the race to the bottom. Sell service. The main thing I hear, as far as complaints, are that gun shops just try and sell you what they have and don't care whats best for you and for gun smiths is that they take forever!
Someone talked about adding a tag line. We call that a USP Unique selling proposition. Our plumbing company's name is Approve Plumbing, our USP is "Service you will love"
