Zak, I'm really surprised by those numbers! When it comes time to put a new barrel on the 300 Win Mag or have it re-chambered (assuming the barrel is good), I'll take a long, hard look at the 7mm RM for sure. It seems like there's no downside to the calibers that you mentioned earlier i.e. 7mm RM, 7mm WSM, .280 Remington (7mm-08), 6.5-06, or .260 Rem ... other than the need to buy a bunch more dies! I assume that brass is [now and forever more] readily available. How about barrel/throat life compared to the older calibers?
