Anyone ordering from Berry's, good luck on your bullets getting to you without losing some from the lousey packing they do.
Twice I recieved my order and twice I lost bullets, the plastic box's broke open and the bullets were in the bottom of the shipping box, of course with a hole in the bottom, never again!!
I also order from Missouri bullets and they pack the box's of bullets in a strong plastic bag with a zip tie, never a problem.
Bye, Bye Berry, you are over priced anyway, I can order Zero and Delta much cheaper and they are FMJ.
Info for all. Floydster:fire:

Yes...I just got 1500 .357 lead tips from Missouri Bullets. First class lead and first class packing.

Boy, just the opposite result for me. I ordered 2k of bullets from
berrys, just received them about a week ago.
They were packed in a box, those two boxes in a box, then that box was further packed in....another box.
You could have shipped those things to Africa and it would have arrived intact.
Wonder what's the difference??

Well, I just got my order last week and that is what happened, at any rate,
never again!
Also I contacted them and no reply, figures!

Walkalong,
I mailed them three days ago and no response, should I call them on the phone and haggle?
I am not the only one with this problem, My Son-In -Law had the same experience, maybe it's my family, we do a lot of shooting, or maybe it's Minnesota, maybe it's too cold here and the box's break open, the packing starts at the beginning, and that is crap!!!
Enough said!:fire:

Post is misleading. Berry's are great bullets, I purchase mine from Cabela's and they're the cheapest FMJ's they offer. Perhaps they need to work on their packaging, but the company makes a good product...IMO

I've had spilled bullets from other vendors that were packed in strong interior cardboard boxes, encased in packing material and then boxed in another strong outer box. Bullets are heavy and transportation handling is rough...it happens and short of packing in armor plate, it will continue to happen occasionally. If any damage to actual product or loss is incurred, reputable vendors will make it right with a reasonable approach.

I guess I'm missing something here. The U.S. Post Office mishandles the package, so it's the bullet manufacturer's fault?

I've been ordering bullets from Berry's for about 10 years now, and have never had a problem with them. My last shipment from them was ten USPS Flat Rate Boxes full of bullets. It was so heavy, the mail lady just left me a note and I had to go to the Post Office and pick them up. That wasn't Berry's fault.

Gilbert Berry and his son are great people to deal with. If you mean you contacted them via e-mail, then I don't really consider that as a contact, since so many e-mails go undelivered. I got one the other day that was sent over a week before, and who knows where in space it had been during that time.

Call them on the phone, and try a nice approach, rather than yelling and stomping your feet. I'm sure they'll attempt to settle your problem, if you just give them half a chance.

Hope this helps.

Fred

My 9's from Berry come in a paper box within a paper box. Then those are placed inside a priority postal box with lots of newspaper type cushioning. Never a spill.

I'd give them a call. I think it's the delivery people in your area, and they need to know to pack things better for you. They can keep that info on file.

Sure seems like a "fixable" issue to me.

Cool down.

I've had both experiences with Berry's.

Sometimes the box is busted.
Sometimes it arrives in perfect condition.

Presently they are too busy to answer emails. They are fine people, but good communication right now is not to their credit. Two weeks ago they told me to call directly from now on, don't even bother with the Internet.

Call on the phone. Get past the nice reception girl quickly. Don't even tell her the problem, she is trained to deflect weaklings. Take this advice seriously. Ask for Customer Service, and keep insisting (nicely!) on Customer Service. Your invoice probably has the name of a particular Customer Service person that handled your order. Ask for that person.

When my Berry's arrive busted open, they generally offer to make it right. Cool off, and give them a chance. If they don't step up and do right, then you start a new thread and tell us all about it.

Nobody's perfect, not even Berry's.

mine is the same as wrench's..a box in a box in a box with paper cushion all around..took me 5 min to get to the bullets using a sharp knife. its almost like getting a christmas present wrapped in duct tape. your carriers must be throwin that stuff around.

I have ordered both 1000's and 250's. I think what happened to the OP was he ordered 250 bullets and they send those in a little plastic box it is actually kind of nice. You are right about the ones sent in the cardboard boxes though it takes a lot of work to get thru all the packing.

Yeah, if you complain to the USPS, make sure you explain the problem clearly.

Don't just go about screaming something about bullets, they may take it as a threat. lol

That's a misleading title for this thread. I get a couple of thousand bullets every six months or so, always properly packaged in one box inside another box with packing paper. Never had a problem, but if I did, it would likely be the USPS. I get damaged mail and packages all the time. There's not much Berry's can do about that.

I've had great luck with them, on several orders. In fact, this post reminds me that I need to send 'em another order. :D

Probably had to evacuate a postal facility and call in a bomb squad when they found a bullet on the floor!

Check the newspapers or CNN and you can probably find your missing bullets!

+100 on Berry's ..great products at a fair price which includes shipping and handling by the every careful folks at the United States Post Office.

In fairness to the Postal folks, I doubt that when they created the "Flat Rate Box", they anticipated people shipping the Bag-O-Anvils that lead bullets are- lol

It would seem to be a USPS problem. I have had more mangled boxes from USPS than all the others combined. When I was selling stereo equipment on an auction site I no longer use it's name I finally refused to ship USPS because of damages. And my feedbacks used to rave about my packaging, there is no packaging that can stand up to being thrown out of the truck and run over and still be economical. The only thing I used to ship with them was Reel to Reel tape because the shipping rate on it was so cheap, about 15-25% of regular rates per pound. I could ship 60lbs for around $12.00 to anywhere in the USA.

(Warning: This isn't a serious suggestion...)

Remember the warning about binding the mouths of the oxen that tread the grain?

Isn't it just possible that the various couriers need bullets too? The shortage affects everyone, I believe.

So, if your order turns up with mysterious rat-holes chewed in the box, you could tactfully ask the courier if he reloads... ;)

I preemptively asked my postal carrier. He's into archery.

Due to damaged packaging, I've lost a bullets from various manufacturers and mail-order venders over the years, and they all made up for my loss. When the folks at Berry's are busy, it's just a little difficult to get in communication with them sometimes. You just gotta keep trying.

About six weeks ago I ordered 1200 Hornady A-MAX 80gr bullets (.223) from Midway along with a gun case. One of the Hornady boxes had broken open during shipping and the bullets were rolling around inside the larger cardboard box that the gun case was packed in. That box had a hole in it the size of a baseball so I weighed both boxes of bullets to estimate how many I'd lost. I called Midway and explained that there were 50 or so A-MAX bullets scattered between their warehouse and my front door so they sent me a box of 100 at no cost. :) I found one of the bullets in the driveway the other week ... only 49 more to go!!

:)
