I put a set of these XS tritium sights on my M1A Bush rifle this week and had the opportunity to sight the gun in yesterday, man was I IMPRESSED!

These really are the sights that should have been on the M14 when it first became general issue.
Too bad the technology wasn't there at the time.

The sight set consists of a replacement front with a vertical tritium vial inset against a white stripe background along with a replacement rear apeture featuring a .125" apeture opening.

Installation was no problem, anybody with general skills can do the job.

The sights are amazingly fast to aquire and more than sufficent for shooting to 400 meters, which is the maximum range I would consider using this short rifle.

Previously I had a set of National Match sights installed, great set-up but frankly overkill and unneccessary for this type of rifle.
The Match sights also made snap type shooting all but impossible and impractical.

Anybody who has ever tried to shoot a rifle in low-light or at night can appreciate the tritium insert on the XS sight, I won't lose the sight on a dim woods deer again.

Personally I would have liked to see small horizantal tritium dots included on the rear sight, they are not included and I feel these are these are neccessary on an apeture sight for the absolute fastest sight aquisition in dim to no light situations.
Theses would not be neccessary if a notch was used instead of the apeture but then precision shooting at range would suffer.

XS makes this sight system in two versions, one for short barrel Bush/Scout/SOCOM rifles and one for full size M1A/M14 rifles, the difference being the front sight is properly calibrated for the barrel lenth of the weapon the sight system in snstalled upon.
I don't know if the front for the standard rifles is thinned enough to make precision shooting at long range possible but would hope that they did do this.

On my rifle the sight actually adjusted exactly the way it should, 8 clicks up from full bottom indexes the elevation at 200 Meter mark and the gun hit point of aim at that distance using standard M80 type ball ammunition.

There is another version of the sight system available from XS Sight Systems using a full hood front much the same as an HK91.G3 set up but I like the conventional winged post myself.

A sight upgrade this is but I still have some 'traditional value' associated with the M14 rifles.

If you own an M1A, any other clone thereof, or are lucky enough to have a civilian legal M14, this is a sight set that you may wish to consider, excellent stuff from a reputable company.

It is wider hence the .125" apeture.

Standard apeture is .0595' and a Match apeture is .0520"
