Most of us have purchased a gun, only to later trade it in for something else or sell it outright to another individual. What gun did you once own that you now regret letting go?

For me, it was a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine. It was a fun gun to plink with, not too shabby on accuracy. However, I field stripped it for cleaning one day and was horrified when I saw the quality of the materials used.

I traded it in on a better gun. Yet as I look back, I still wish I had it. Fate can sometimes be cruel to us...............as now I will more than likely have to pay more to get another one.

When I was 20 or so I pawned a nylon 66 & a model 94 Winchester in Tampa. The Winchester especially

The Hi Point Carbine innerds (is that a word?) may LOOK cheap, but they are robust!

I regretted selling a Springfield Armory EMP, . . . . got another one later.

I sold a Mossberg shotgun, that in hindsight, probably would have come in handy.

I was in the grips of trying to save a marriage, . . . she said she was affraid of my guns, . . that I might "shoot her with one of them. . . . or shoot the cats". . . . . . .yeah, she was psychotic. But at the time, I told her that, to save the marriage, I would sell all of my guns. I'm SOOO glad we're divorced now. hehehe

I only mention that because that would have been a HHHHHUUUGE regret. Thankfully, they are resting peacefully in my gun safe. :)

WOW, I can't believe you sold you guns to safe a marrage. If she was a afraid you might shoot her she abviously has other issues.

Glad you are happy now.

I know my wife was afraid of guns until I got her to the range & she realized how much fun it was to shoot.

Bushmaster Armpistol. Always wanted one, got one, enjoyed it, sold it off to buy something I wanted I hadn't had yet. Regret it every time I think about it.

Nothing catastrophic. I often wish I could "redo" my gun collection however. I might have bought different things in a different order. I also wish I would have began accumulating earlier, like the day I turned 18. :)

hso- thanks for posting that! My dad had one of those many years ago and I've been trying to remember details about it so the picture helps.

I regret having sold a stainless mini-14 to cover some car expenses. Then again, I was younger and the need to troll for girls trumped my need for firearms.

my biggest regret is getting rid of a Taurus .22 Mag revolver ... it was a sweet little gun, very accurate and fun to shoot ... can't remember now why I sold it (I know it was to finance another purchase) but I'll be getting another .22 revolver next ...

There has been a few of these threads so I will give my most
recent (not biggest) regret.
It was a HK 45c. Great gun. Sold it to get the 9mm

Sold four, count 'em (4) Remington 700 BDL's that I bought back in the
mid 70's; .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester, .25/06 Remington, and
a 7mm Remington Magnum. Shouldn't have done it; but I got out of the
rifle business for several year's; nowdays, I only have a COLT CAR-15
in .223 and a tricked out stainless Ruger mini-14 in .223~! :uhoh: ;)

Only real regret is selling a pre-ban Colt Match HBar. Should have kept the Colt and sold another AR.

Others have come and gone with little or no regret.

Bill2e, . . . I WOULD have sold them to save the marriage, . . . but she never gave it another chance. So I'm happy that I still have them. :)

Back in the late 80s I had a nice MkII bull barrel. At one point I was in a financial bind and offered to sell it to a co-worker for $100, he said he he'd get back with me. A week went by and I got paid again and was no longer desperate for the money. He also got paid and came to me wanting the gun... I am an idiot. ...I sold it to him just to not to go back on my word.

Beretta 96 Brigadier Inox W/Internal Laser from Laser Max. Thanks to a THR member I was able to buy another one Just like it 4 years later!

In college & got engaged, sold my 1970's era Colt Detective Special & ADC .45-70/.45LC/.410 over/under derringer to help pay for the ring set. Twenty-two years later, she still has the rings, but I miss that little Det. Spl. something awfull!!

A springfield Armory 1911A1 mil spec... sold it to buy my 4th AR...

Now I regret it.

also, a stainless 92FS and a Uberti 1873 carbine..

I miss my S&W 629 classic (pre-lock). Sold it in '94. One of my biggest mistakes.

I want to cry thinking about it.

Well I have taken my hunters safety, handgun safety, and ccw class in the last month. My regret is not saving up to buy a gun because I still dont own one due to being broke.

Back in my daysof Ma. legal troubles;I sold a Polytech Legend(fixed stock),6 30 round mags,2 75 round drums;and a wheelbarrel load of steel core ammo on strippers for an even thousand dollars OTD ( I had to raise lawyer money ASAP& had a "fire sale")....that was several years back. Now $1000.00 seems to be the base rate just for a decent quality milled receiver AK(or even on eof the nicer stampings!)

I am an idiot. ...I sold it to him just to not to go back on my word.

It is possible to regret something more than getting rid of a gun. I would think that not keeping your word would be one of them. At least you don't have to regret not doing the right thing.

As for myself, I sold a beautiful model 60 simply because I was offered double what I paid for it. I kick myself on a regular basis for doing it.

Back in the 80's I went to the UK for 5 years and couldn't take my guns needless to say. Most of them I stored at my dads but a hunting buddy wanted my Ruger 77 RSI in .243 really bad and I took pity on him.

I had a Ruger M77MKII walnut with a beautiful high gloss blue finish that I sold awhile ago. I'm not sure why, but I really liked that rifle.
