Boy i would love to point out which party thinks its the governments role to tell people who they can marry, what to do with their bodies, forces terminal patients who wish to choose their own fate to suffer needlessly, throws people in prison for drug violations that hurt nobody else, violate seperation of chruch and state, condone torture, tell people how they can have sex and now even how to wear pants but i won't.

It's about freakin time somebody got it. I thought I was the only one here.

For the most part they don't want you to have guns either, they just let the D's carry the ball on that one. Both have the same end game, just different priorities for how we get there.

Bill Maher says the 2nd amendment is "bs" but has admitted he owns a gun for protection. If the 2nd amendment is such "bs," perhaps he should consider selling his gun. He would never do that. Nor would he put a sign in his yard that says, "This house is proudly gun free." Similar to some vocal, anti-gun types, Maher owns guns and some also have armed bodyguards to protect them.

Thus the story can be summed up as telling others to disarm, while keeps firearms for themselves and having armed bodyguards. They can have it, you should not. Never listen to this narrative.

Yeah! Let's leave any moral integrity and any responsibility to a higher authority out of government! We can't legislate morality, so let's just do as we please. Heck, if murder wasn't against the law, I know some people who would be GONE! Who is ANYONE to tell anyone ELSE how to live? In God we no longer trust!

I also canceled HBO due to this POS! He's a so called comedian that likes to create political controversy to draw attention to himself and promote his own self interests! IMHO it's a waste of THR's bandwidth to run a thread about him! :barf:

Are you proud of typing right now as you are expressing your first amendment right? Proud to be breathing per your right to life? Maybe its a different definition of the word "proud" but not being proud does not equate to being ashamed. I just believe pride should be reserved to exceptional or meaningful accomplishments. For example, one should be proud of their work to preserve gun rights but not of the simple act of buying a gun. One can even be proud of an impressive gun collection because of the effort that went into amassing it but i don't understand being proud of doing something as simple as buying a gun or any other tool.

I think that it's commonly held that if someone says that they are "not a proud Prius owner" or "not a proud banker", that it means that it is something that they wish to hide or are otherwise ashamed of. Bill saying that he is not a proud gun owner incinuates that he wants to distance himself from us and wants nothing to do with ensuring that his right to bear arms stays in place.

Is this the same Bill Maher who bashes conservatives for their "war on women" and then turns around and calls Sarah Palin a C***? Same guy?

Yeah, I care what he thinks or says.

A gun is a tool, and so is bill maher.

My rights end where your rights begin. You killing me infringes (severely) on my right to life. Me smoking marijuana in no way infringes on your rights.

A couple of items here:

1. He's an "entertainer". This is what he does for a living...making radical statements about his beliefs (and the beliefs of others) which draws a crowd and makes him popular.

2. At least he isn't pussy-footing around the subject with his stand on this issue. We know EXACTLY where he stands on this, and for that I'm very grateful. There are still far too many politician about which we cannot say this, one way or the other. Those are every bit as dangerous, if not more so, than those whom we know to be against the RKBA.

I find the following to be an interesting quote from the link:

"Why can’t they say about guns what the Democrats said about abortion — it should be safe, legal and rare.”" I've never come across any Democrat who ever said abortion should be "rare".

He is a Libertarian. The big government type so long as it is the one stomping on anothers rights.
His brand of Libertarianism is what is killing the 3rd party movement. There isn't a tent big enough for me to get under it with him.

Maher describes himself as a libertarian, but his expressed opinions bear no resemblance to actual libertarianism.

ive watched every single bill maher in the past 5 years and i continue to do so. he DOES own guns for self defense. he does not say things to be controversial, i actually think most of what he says is pretty un-contraversial... hes more "right" than a lot of people might believe because of the way hes portrayed on many right wing "news" stations. u cant find a show that brings a group of people on like that and talk about current issues. it doesnt exist. we happen to be learned at very little things as individuals.. gun legislation and guns in general is not everyones strong point..

if i get someone who doesnt consume or know anything about cannabis to start legislating on it, you'll get huge messes like the war on drugs and all that madness.. many of you wouldnt be able to legislate or have a proper opinion about a lot of things.... i blame our education systems that are so narrow-minded and subjective about everything

Three words come to mind...

Smarmy.

Little.

Twerp.

Love him or hate him, he'll always have a podium. I choose to no longer listen.

Like so many others, he makes a living by inciting animosity through artificial controversy.
I prefer to not add to his fame or recognition and hope after enough others do the same he will fade into the irrelevance he so richly deserves.

He's just the current generations more vulgar, less intelligent Dick Cavet.

Or, the guy Jon Stewart wishes he could be but still make the same money.

I'd love to point out which side wants to blame every gun owner for what a very small portion of the population does and calls you a heartless monster if you disagree.

I'd like to point out which side stayed completely silent on their gun control stance until the election was over.

I'd like to point out which side blames guns themselves for gang violence that large cities are plagued with when they let criminals out constantly in the revolving door system in the states where they reside.

I'd like to point out which group thinks that 50% of the population that actually works should support the other half that doesn't.

I'd like to point out the side that screams about 30,000 gun related deaths (half of which are suicide) per year but is oddly silent about the fact that over a million human beings are aborted every year.

Last but not least, I'd love to point out which side has used the deaths of 20 school kids to advance a 20+ year old agenda that would not have prevented said tragedy.

Both sides are guilty of being ignorant and insensitive. Neither side is always right. This is a gun forum though and for me, gun rights trump all the other BS, which is one of the only reasons I refuse to vote for a certain side, who has totally alienated me and tons of other pro gun voters.

Bill has a right to his opinion. My personal opinion concerning Bill Maher is that he should spend a considerable amount of time playing in traffic.....blindfolded.
