Bipod for a 3-Gun Rifle...

I need a bipod to go on my 3-Gun rifle. I'll be using this rifle to engage multiple targets out to 400+ yards, on the clock, mostly from prone, in unpredictable terrain.

I'd like the bipod to mount to an M1913 rail. It needs to be sturdy, lightweight, and fast to deploy.

What specific bipod should I get, and why?

have you seen the rock creek bipod. i ordered one based off good reviews at the hide.

Virtually everyone I know who runs a bipod on their 3Gun rifle (which means mainly the Open class folks, since the matches we shoot don't allow them in Tactical) uses the Low Harris Swivel. You tie a piece of paracord between the two legs at the lowest non-telescoping point, sized so that when one leg is open, the other is pulled and snaps down. This is super-fast to deploy. The Harris is also lightweight. The Low is high enough to shoot prone without hitting a 30-round mag (with Magpul attached, even), at its shortest height setting. Most people do not adjust the height "on the clock" in 3Gun-- instead they just bump them longer before they start if there is something that requires it.

What Zak said. And the A.R.M.S. # 32 bipod mount will provide quick on/off from a Picatinny (1913) rail.

The 9-13" Harris S was the one I was really looking at. Might the 6-9" model work better for mostly-prone shooting?

I think the BR (6-9") will be too low for a 30-round magazine unless you almost fully extend it.

how about a grip-pod i have one on my service rifle that i carry everyday here in the sandbox and i have nothing but great things to say about, just push the button with your thumb legs come out, and you are good to go.
