I finally broke down and bought another AR. Due to my son's health I sold every firearm I owned a few years ago but things as always have gotten better. I had a choice of 3 new rifles to choose from the M&P Sport, Windam carbon fiber model, and a Delton. All flat tops and carbines.
I haven't really looked until I was able to buy and the Windham really stuck out. I have had carbon 15's pre Bushmaster and Bushmaster but the Windham seemed less refined to me. The mag well was bulky reminded me of the old cast receivers. The upper around th FA seemed bulky as well so I had to walk away from it.
The Delton was clean simple and just what you expect when looking at an AR. The fit and finfinish were well and I really did like the logo work on the receiver but no rear sight included.
The M&P Sport very tight nice finish and magul rear sight. I was thrown by the lack of dust cover, FA and permanent trigger guard. This is also the 1:9 barrel not unfortunately the 1:8. In the end I had to go with the M&P it just seemed to be a better value all around for under $700.
I am sure many are going to throw me some hate for saying I feel the M&P seemed to be a better buy. I just thought to post my opinion on the 3 rifles for anyone considering to possibly buy or order one without being able to handle first. I do think all 3 are solid guns by handling them and each has a place to people's tastes.
