A friend loaded a couple of mags and gave them to me. One was loaded with his hand loaded Sierra Match Kings he makes for me and the other with factory reloads with Nosler Competition bullets, both 168 grain hollow point boat tails. They shot the same, about 3 inches at 200 yards with iron sights from an M1A rested on a bag. Both shot under an inch at 100 yards scoped from his Savage, the factory stuff kicked a little less in the Savage, but hit a quarter inch lower. Both clover leafed their group. Has anyone else compared these two bullets for accuracy? I am starting to wonder if I have been overpaying going for Sierras all these years. The factory ammo was purchased from CMP and is reloaded. It cost the same round per round for me to reload, but I got an ammo can and all the brass when I was done plus more free time to do other things. The brass was GI and VERY clean. It almost looked new other than very small marks. It still looked better than Dave's brass he reloaded. I hate prepping cases and pulling that lever with arthritis. My knuckles burn when I go to shoot if I do it within a day or two. I prefer buying from CMP and supporting gun rights over buying components at some big chain store. I am going to get one of the 308 Garands CMP is selling. Anyone have one of these CMP Special rifles or ammo input?
