Politics : Border Patrol Agents: Senator McCain Sells Us Out (Again)
by Jim Kouri, CPP

United States Border Patrol agents are not happy with Senator John McCain (R-AZ) since he voted for the Amnesty Bill (S. 2611). And they're not being quiet about their collective anger over the senator's actions and remarks.

But, according to members of the agents' union local 2544, Senator McCain has never been a friend to rank-and-file Border Patrol agents. Local 2544 represents US Border Patrol agents in Arizona, McCain's home state.

"He routinely ignores correspondence from Border Patrol agents and often gives the impression that he is just too big and too important to deal with us," they said.

"He attempts to undermine our mission at every turn and actively supports the criminals who violate our laws. He always trys to downplay the fact that illegal aliens knowingly and willingly violate our laws, and he is a close ally on immigration matters with Senator Ted Kennedy, who we believe is the biggest disgrace of all time in the United States Senate."

These law enforcement agents point to Senator McCain's "imperious attitude" towards rank-and-file Border Patrol agents and his complete disdain for their mission has been evident for many years.

"We will not bother listing his website [for citizens to write to him] because it's obvious he couldn't care less what the average American thinks and he isn't up for re-election until 2010."

And these agents aren't just singling out McCain for their ire. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), who chairs the Judiciary Committee, is also in their sights. They point to how
Senator Specter, at the last minute, put a clause in the Senate's shameful immigration bill that forces the United States government to "consult" with Mexico prior to planning or building any fences or barriers on our border.

"Not on Mexico's [side of the] border, but yes, on United States soil. We can't wait to see this fencing project after the "consultations" take place. Maybe they can even appoint "Congressman" Raul Grijalva to lead the "consultations" for the United States of America."

The agents said that this is the same Mexican government that sends millions of Mexican citizens here illegally to steal jobs and send billions of dollars back to Mexico. This is the same Mexican government whose soldiers smuggle drugs and shoot at Border Patrol agents. This is the same Mexican government that is corrupt to the core. This is the same Mexican government that uses its consular officers to sue the United States government.

"Great move Specter. Talk about the "FOX" guarding the henhouse."

The Senate passed a shameful immigration bill at the urging of an equally shameful George W. Bush, fresh off his dune-buggy riding jaunt in Yuma surrounded by a bunch of adoring, star-struck Border Patrol managers, quipped the agents.

"This bill cheapens citizenship in this country (again), it throws the rule of law out the window (again), it places unconscionable burdens on DHS (verifying the identity of every illegal alien in this country within 90 days), it repeats, and at a minimum, quadruples the worst immigration mistake in the history of this country.

"it sells out our sovereignty by forcing the American government to "consult with the Mexican government" before planning or building any border fences, it encourages more widespread fraud than this country has ever seen (you'll see what we're talking about if this actually passes the House), and it is completely unenforceable and will overwhelm the system," the agents said in a statement submitted to the US Senate.

"You [McCain, Kennedy, Specter, et al] have succeeded in placing the morale of frontline Border Patrol agents in the toilet just when we thought it couldn't possibly get any worse."

The GOP disgusts me. I don't know what exactly they plan on gaining with their latest shamnesty stunt.

The Democrats will get 20 million new union/entitlement based/anti-war/whitey-hating voters. While the GOP is slitting their own throats for decades to come by pissing off their base to the point of not voting.

Not only will 20 million new voters vote Democrat, the GOP stands to lose 49,000,000 votes if the conservative base is really 80% against the shamnesty.

Congratulations leaders of the GOP, you just gave a 69,000,000 vote lead to the Dems for 2008. Considering only 62,000,000 people total voted Republican in 2004 the current gameplan is political suicide for the GOP. If the GOP doesn't want to go extinct maybe THEY should start impeachment proceedings against Bush and the other shamnesty RINOs.

45Cal, maybe I missed something, but I'll ask anyway. You spread a lot of "quotes" around in your post. I'd like to see where thay came from.

Hey Boofus:

Boy you hit the nail on the head. I got an email from my Senator in response to my emails and faxes and calls, regarding both the United Nations World tax, and my disapointment in general with the party regarding this lunacy of Amnesty, and here is my response letter back to him. (I have removed the Senator's exact name, and mine for the sake of privacy)

Dear Senator XXXXXXX:

I appreciate your response. Additionally I would like you to know that although I have voted straight Republican tickets all my voting life, you are the only Republican I intend to vote for in the future simply because you seem to be listening to the overwhelming disappointment of conservatives in the actions of the Republican majority. The majority is constantly caving to unconstitutional leftist policies. This includes unfortunately, President Bush.

As you know, President Bush signed the McCain-Feingold Incumbency Protection Act which is commonly referred to as the "Campaign Finance Reform" bill, and did so while claiming that he was aware it was Unconstitutional. He claimed he hoped the Supreme Court would resolve the issue by declaring it Unconstitutional.

The Constitution stipulates if a President of the United States does not approve of a bill, he is to return it unsigned to Congress. As you know, President Bush, failed to do so. In doing this he violated his oath of office, specifically the promise to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic". When he gave that oath, it implied he had read, or at least intended to read, the United States Constitution.

The McCain-Feingold law violates the First Amendment at it's core, and if President Bush is impeached for any reason after the House loses the majority in the upcoming elections as the left is promising, it should be for that, and not anything having to do with Iraq or so called CIA intelligence failures.

As an honest man, were I in the House, I would be bound to vote for impeachment on that issue. And were I in the Senate, would have to vote for removal since that is also what the Constitution calls for. Too often the American people let each and every Constitutional protection get chipped away slowly by Representatives both in the House and Senate, until we are faced with such lunacy as the Senate's recent "Immigration Reform" Bill debacle.

When a clearly Unconstitutional violation is termed a "technicality that will be addressed in Committee" by Ted Kennedy after being informed the tax portion of the bill could only be originated in the House pursuant to Article I of the Constitution (and that statement is concurred with by Republican Senators) we have reached a point where our Republic is in grave jeopardy.

The Republican Party is risking it's very identity when their elected Representatives fail to uphold the principles of the party platform, such as the recent failure to remove Senator Arlen Spector as Committee Chairman of the Judiciary Committee when they were clearly instructed to do so by the overwhelming volume of faxes, e-mails, telephone calls and letters from Republican constituents loudly voicing their opposition to Senator Spector's call for a left wing Supreme Court nominee.

It was at that point the Republican majority lost the upcoming elections. You have no idea, how many people I talk with that were party faithful, but intend to vote Libertarian tickets until the Republicans come to their senses again.

In fact, I was invited to be a delegate to the Texas State Convention however, due to my strong feelings about being let down by the Republican Majority time and time again, I cancelled and informed the State Party Convention organizers I will not be attending, since I will be voting mainly Libertarian and felt it would be dishonorable to take a seat since I was not voting for any Republicans. I only wish Senators Spector and McCain would act in similar fashion, and simply leave the Republican party to officially join the Democrat Party. After all, I cannot think of a single time, they voted against a leftist measure.

Only now, after receiving your response today, and seeing your recent strong opposition to the Unconstitutional and nonsensical "Amnesty Bill for Law Breakers" the left is calling an "Immigration Reform Bill", did I decide you were one of the very few true Republicans currently in office, and decided I will vote for you to continue in the Senate, when the occasion arises in the General election.

I realize, that voting Libertarian will risk bringing in more socialist, globalist UN supporting idiots on the left to continue tearing down the structure of our Representative Republic. However, we as a country and a party, cannot continue to reward elected officials again and again by giving them access to the legislative branch. Especially, when they intentionally totally ignore American values, American citizens, and most importantly, the Constitution of the United States.

Again, I appreciate your response regarding my letter of protest about the United Nations attempts at global government. I ask you to strongly urge every member of the Republican party you meet with, or any Democrat you may entertain conversation not yet a One World Government United Nations supporter, to reject governing against the United States Constitution.

Tell them they need to act in strict accordance with the system of government clearly and simply outlined by our Founders. If not, they risk destroying the Representative Republic Benjamin Franklin challenged us to keep. Challenge them to read the entirety of all Articles and the Bill of Rights. It will only take them about an hour, and they will comprehend it better by reading it aloud to themselves. Only when they demonstrate they have read and understood that document and positively demonstrate an intent to respect it, do I believe the Republicans will be able to hold any majorities.

Sincerely,

ASDWAf

Below is the email from my Senator which I was responding to:

Dear Mr. XXXXX:

Thank you for contacting me regarding reports of a "global tax" levied by the United Nations. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter and I share your strong opposition.

I am deeply opposed to the levy of any global tax by the United Nations. Further, I have serious concern regarding the level of corruption at the United Nations and will not support any UN activity that would undermine the sovereignty of the United States of America.

As you know, numerous issues will be considered during the 109th Congress, and you may be certain I will keep your views in mind should the Senate consider relevant legislation. I appreciate having the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXXXXX
