Botach Tactical just sent me an email canceling all backorders for PMAGS. No more waiting in line for a shipment. Just an email saying that it's easier to cancel all orders and that they want to sell PMAGS in the future for the original price.

This is something worth it for me to dust off the keyboard and post a response.

Back in the beginning of September, I ordered some tactical gear for my upcoming deployment and a Pelican laptop case. I received part of my order, but by the end of September, I still had no Pelican case. After calling them several times, and not receiving an answer, I persisted and was connected. I told them that I hadn't gotten my Pelican case, and that my CC was charged. Well, they assured me that it was on backorder and would be drop-shipped from Pelican.

They played that game for about two weeks until I spoke to a manager said that if I didn't have a valid tracking number for the case in 24 hours, I was calling Navy Federal(my bank) to cancel the charge and would have them investigated for fraud. Twenty-two hours later, I had a working tracking number.

Don't order from those clowns.

That's actually illegal in some states, and there's not a CC company on the planet that looks kindly to it. In fact - some creditcard companies will essentially ban companies from making charges against their customer's cards for that practice.

Bottom line is - you're not allowed to actually charge someone until an item has "shipped". The common definition of "shipped" being that the item is picked/packed, ready to go, and the carrier has been sent a request for pickup. Until then - not allowed to charge.

After seeing these responses and doing a bit of Googling, it seems that some type of action beyond a boycott is needed. Have they been reported to the better business bureau? Is it possible to do a group report? Any other ideas?

I've ordered from them several times and always received my order within the week. Then again all I ever ordered was mags.

Back before all the craziness they were selling GLOCK mags for $12 and P-Mags for the same.

I think their problem is that half the stuff on their site isn't in inventory and they only update when it serves their interests.

Wow-- I had not read any of the negative feedback on them before, or I probably would have cancelled my order (actually, I wouldn't have placed the order with them in the first place).

I ordered from them at the end of October. Just a few small things-- Streamlight TLR-1, shotgun light mount, etc.

Half the order shipped right away (including the light, which is the item that I really wanted anyway), the other half of the order... was a pain to get. Had to send multiple emails, took a few days each time for a response, response always said that it was going to ship in a couple days, etc. The response was always very polite, but it still took a long time to get the rest of the order.

It finally arrived early today though, so I guess I got lucky.

Some companies routinely charge cards as soon as an item is ordered, even if it is not in stock. I won't deal with them. Some hit your card as "pending" No problem there.

I have never dealt with Botach Tactical. Sounds like I don't want to.

Botach earned itself a spotty reputation several year back; I do not know if they have continued the business practices that lead to said reputation. As it turns out, I have used them several times without incident, and subsequently, without complaint. Would I use them again. Yes, but I go into the proposition with the understanding that I am using their services, not relying on them, if that makes sense.

i had one horrible experience with them and have warned many people against them, some listened some didn't. one of my buddies has had great results buying from them, but not me and not many others

Wow, I can't believe these guys are still in business. I got burned by them twice a fews years back, and kept my promise not to give them any of my business again.

Back then, my credit card got charged for goods that were never delivered, not do I believe were ever in stock. The first time was an item supposedly shipped from direct from the manufacturer (credit refunded), the second time, I couldn't get a hold of a customer rep. to speak to, and I had to deal with my credit card co. to file a complaint.

I did that Pmag back order thing.

Sorry to hear about your order. :(

Botach does have great prices.

The secret to getting your order is to call them and see if they have what you want in-stock (I've never been lied to about their inventory).

Only buy what they have in-stock and you should see your order pretty quickly. If they don't have it, they'll charge you up-front and backorder it. This can take months.

Another negative is that Botach has been known to commit patent infringement 'ala Guro Kelly Worden and his impact Kerambit/Travellers wrench.
