Hi folks,
Picked up a Mossy 500 series in .410 today. I've been looking for a .410 pump gun for a bit now, so I snapped it up when I saw it for a good price. I'm looking forward to taking this shotgun to the range to try it out. I used one of my spent shells to test cycle the action, and the action is silky smooth.
I cleaned the packing grease out of the barrel and the visible parts of the assembled action, and I plan to completely disassemble it after I put a few dozen rounds through it. Sound right? I'm not an aficionado, but I have read that you want to fire it a bit before the first major cleaning.
I think I'll stick to the single-shot .410 for hiking, but this pump gun might just see some time on the trail as well.
