Bought a Ruger GP 100 today

I bought the Competition Electronics ProChrono last year and it's been awesome. Very light and easily portable. Supposed to be able to sync to a smart phone to log shots but I never use that feature. Can't remember exactly what I paid for it but they are going for right around $100 now. I have to speed check my loads for a sanity check. Not knowing what my loads are producing is like driving a car without a speedometer :)

But you really don't need one

Probably not but I figured I would be in a lot more $$$. I also found one that comes with a sun shade and tri pod. Before really looking into it I saw one and figured it would be an indoor thing only which wouldn't work for me. Then I also figured I have to build some kind of stand to go with it.

It's not something I would take with me on a weekly basis but I am kind of curious about some of my hand loads and how much difference barrel length changes velocity.

Do I need it? No. For $100-150 it's not going to kill my budget. I have 4 different loads I have worked up for 3 different pistols that I pretty much repeat weekly. Once I check those I probably would not use it anymore unless I change powders or bullets.

I understand it would be nice to have Me i would take that $ and buy primers &powder

I totally understand. I am new to reloading and I've done pretty good so far without it. I don't feel I have to have one and if I did have one it would probably get used once or twice. I do think it would be interesting to see the numbers though. Probably wouldn't change anything in how I do what I do.
