I guess the school is trying to see how many rights that can violate with one action.

In simple words, the policy in question is plain stupid, and the person or people who dreamed it up should be sent back to kindergarten, or horsewhipped prior to being fired.

Will the next "logical" step be the burning of books?

Last year I went to my cousin high school to pick her up and saw a student wearing a smiling chairman mau t-shirt. Personally I was offended that a student would wear a shirt depicting a communist despot who killed millions, but it was only a t-shirt. If a school has no problem with that or gangsta-rap t-shirts, what the problem with t-shirts depicting a gun?

I can't help but wonder if in the left wing world of modern academia if a t-shirt bearing this image would be considered acceptable.

It still bears an image of a gun but it's in line with their ideology. I can't help but wonder if it would get a pass for being "ideologically correct".

So, suppose some kid wore a T-shirt with the image of a Rap/Gangsta type holding a Glock. In the background there is a vague image of the silhouette of a fallen police officer. The text on the shirt says, "Pig hunting permit. No bag limit."

Freedom of speech. Free expression. Thought police?

I thought it was pretty well known that students are not entitled to the bill of rights, especially pertaining to the first amendment. Aren't there court cases where the school was allowed to censor the school newspaper? It doesn't sound like this will make any headway either.

We just did this in General.

This is a first amendment issue, not a second amendment issue.
