Hey folks,

I recently was given a K31 Project to play with. Included is a Boyd laminated stock that needs to be fit, shaped etc. I noticed that the oem stock (sporterized at some point in the past) has a metal block insert where the main screw secures the stock to the action. The Boyd stock doesn't include that piece. Do it need to swap that piece from the old stock into the Boyd, or is it not necessary on the laminated stock? You can see the recess for the block in the Boyd stock in the bottom pic. I'll try to post pics of the part in question later.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure which recess you’re meaning. Looking forward to the new pics of the part in question.

Are you sure that’s a Boyd’s stock? First glance looks like a Richard’s microfit profile.

Hey Folks,

Hope the Christmas day finds you all well.

Now that deer season is wrapping up I finally have time to start my K31 deer rifle project. Since my initial post, I have aquired the missing action mounting bolts and base lined the the rifle for accuracy. And the gotta say, I'm very impressed. Took it out a to the tree stand but no deer showed up. (Though I did bag two big does for the freezer with my old No4Mk1)

The old sporterized stock has a metal plate/block in the stock through which the front action bolt passes. Guessing a bedding type piece?

That laminated stock is recessed like the old stock and fits well, though will need a bit of massaging. The question I have is, do I need to fabricate a similar metal plate/block for the laminated stock? Guess I could also pull the existing piece from the old stock if I choose as another option.

Here's pics of the piece in question.

Thanks un advance!
