So I like the looks of the laminate stock, but I have some questions.
If I have a light barrel and it's cut for a heavy varmint barrel will it look stupid?

It says 18.5 plus barrel, I'm cutting mine to 16, so will I have to trip and reshape the end of the forepiece?

I assume I have bed it myself

Will a howa ammo boost mag kit fit?

Sorry I have so many questions. But I've never done a stock swap on a bolt gun. And it kinda looks like these Boyd's are meat for gunsmiths to work over. That's fine I like learning.

1. You can chose the barrel channel profile before you chose the stock on Boyds site. So just chose the profile that matches your barrel. Then pick the pro varminter stock.
It may look a little wierd as the stock is proportioned for a bull barrel, but i had something similar on a sporter and thought it looked ok. It really depends on what you think is attractive.

2. You wont have any functional issue with having a 16" barrel, but again it may look a little wierd. Are you going to be running a suppressor? Either way youll have to decide if you like the look.

3 and 4 (and 5 kinda). Ive found the last few boyds stocks ive used to have very close inletting, but yes you will have to bed the stock yourself.
At the same time you MAY need to mess with inletting to get everything to go together correctly. Again only stock i had any issue with was the one i just got for my Arisaka, and thats probably an unusual action for them to make a stocks.

All in all i would call MOST Boyds stocks drop in, but some may require a hobbyist level of fitting.

If you actually WANT to fit a stock, Richards microfit stocks offers some more variation in design but may require somewhere around 5 hours of work to finish. Their action inletting is pretty close as well so its mostly grunt work to finish shaping and sanding.

Thank you that answers all my questions.
Yea I'm running a suppressor. I really like the looks of the Ar style chassis especially if I could get the front to match up to the suppressor diameter pretty good.
But I hate the butt stock look on a bolt gun.

Youll probably like the way the PV looks along with the supressor then. Id suggest getting it in a darker color to blend all the lines together, but even in the more garish color scheems i think it will look cool.
