For the Savage Axis shooter. Boyd's now has a wood stock available!<http://boydsgunstocks.wordpress.com/2013/10/09/savage-axis-transform-your-plastic-stock-into-beautiful-wood-laminate/>
How to bed it?
Because if your original stock is wood it doesn't need longer screws. It's only when you go from synthetic to wood that the screw length changes.why don't they just include them with stock
Mohave-Tec I just ordered my Boyd's stock for my Axis .308 and I have the Timney Trigger. What kind of fitting did you have to do for it?I got the new stock. I did not need to purchase longer screws. The OEM screws worked just fine.
Took a awhile to fit the new stock but that was because I have a Timney trigger in my Axis. Tomorrow is the first range day for both the new trigger and the new stock.
I'm getting ready to order one of their stocks soon. Let us know how it shoots with the new stockYou won't have to do anything to yours. Mine was a first run stock. The small issues have been worked out of them now so you should have a drop in fit.
That Boyd's stock, a Timney trigger on the Axis creates a top shelf rifle that is better than a "better" Savage rifle at the same expense.
Thanks for the info. I already get MOA groups out of it with my handloads and current setup which is a EGW 20moa rail, Warne rings, and a Redfield Revenge 4-14x42. I've just been waiting for someone to make a stiffer stock and Boyd's did it. It'll probably really tighten up my groups now. Hope it gets here quick. You won't have to do anything to yours. Look at the Boyds video. This thread - about putting a new stock on a rifle - is woefully void of pictures.
