For the Savage Axis shooter. Boyd's now has a wood stock available!<http://boydsgunstocks.wordpress.com/2013/10/09/savage-axis-transform-your-plastic-stock-into-beautiful-wood-laminate/>

Boyd's told me I needed the longer ones and after I got my stock and screws I found out ....they were right. Mine was for a Stevens Model 200SA,same as a savage model 10. It may possibly be different for the Axis.

If Boyd's knows you need longer screws, why don't they just include them with stock and adjust the price? Doesn't make sense that a company knows the customer needs them and does not include them with the stock.

why don't they just include them with stock
Because if your original stock is wood it doesn't need longer screws. It's only when you go from synthetic to wood that the screw length changes.

I got the new stock. I did not need to purchase longer screws. The OEM screws worked just fine.
Took a awhile to fit the new stock but that was because I have a Timney trigger in my Axis. Tomorrow is the first range day for both the new trigger and the new stock.

Mohave-Tec I just ordered my Boyd's stock for my Axis .308 and I have the Timney Trigger. What kind of fitting did you have to do for it?

You won't have to do anything to yours. Mine was a first run stock. The small issues have been worked out of them now so you should have a drop in fit.
That Boyd's stock, a Timney trigger on the Axis creates a top shelf rifle that is better than a "better" Savage rifle at the same expense.

I'm getting ready to order one of their stocks soon. Let us know how it shoots with the new stock

I already know how it shoots. It makes a better rifle than a like Savage in the same price range. It's in its own thread somewhere close around here as is several other recent post about a 2 way or 3 way mix of Boyd's/Axis/Timney.

Thanks for the info. I already get MOA groups out of it with my handloads and current setup which is a EGW 20moa rail, Warne rings, and a Redfield Revenge 4-14x42. I've just been waiting for someone to make a stiffer stock and Boyd's did it. It'll probably really tighten up my groups now. Hope it gets here quick.

Ordered my stock! I got the classic in pepper. Will post some photos when I get it. Also Savage is coming out with the Axis II that now has the accutrigger....took them long enough! Either way I have to say I like how my Timney trigger feels compared to the accutrigger on my Model 10 FCP-K .308.
