Broke a Leupold M8 EER scope today with my .500...

I broke another scope today with the .500 SW Magnum. Its a beast man! So far that thing has chalked up a Mueller Red dot, and now a Leupold M8 EER scope. IDK what the heck will hold up?!?!

I think we've compared note before. I'm the one with the TC Encore with 15 inch handgun barrel but with the shoulder stock. Up this way it's a legal non restricted rifle as a result.

I've managed to turn two cheapie scopes into kid's kaleidescopes with the recoil. I'm currently using a chinese red dot that has survived about 18 rounds, give or take a couple. My hopes are high since none of the actual scopes have made it this far.

Well this leupold made it roughly 300 rounds before biting it... At least there's a nice lifetime warranty. Hopefully they will send me a fxll as a replacement

Try Burris. They've been strong as nails in the recoil dept. Only thing that held up with the stout 300 gr loads in my Redhawk without ever failing. Worth a shot.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but Im researching scopes to put on my bone collector edition 500S&W mag and it seems pretty much all the cheaper EER scopes are getting eaten up by this cartridge. Its apparent Im going to have to go with a high qaulity scope but it seems even a Leupold cant put up with the kick of the 500. Im planning on going with this one

If I cant find anything else that is more highly recommended. While it would suck for it to only make it 300 rounds, I suppose thats an acceptable "service interval" as its much better than the burris and nikons that some report making it less than one cylinder full.

Ive also read(mainly from 460S&W guys) thats its pretty much a necessity to run three rings AND lap them to keep it on target. Are yall seeing the same results? Only problem is I think itll be fairly tight with the relatively small picatinny rail that came on my pistol.

Thank you, I love it except Im not worth a darn with the iron sights on it. THe front blade is too thick for 100+ yard shots, Im sure with more practice I could do better but its pretty dang rough on my wrists after a couple cylinders full. Once I get some good glass on it Im looking forward to rolling some good loads for it. Should make a for a good whitetail gun lol.
