Hey all, deprimming some 9’s today and ended up snapping the pin. Wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a new one. Is the pin I have from midway correct? Rcbs CA is real good I've broken several things go this past year and have gotten free replacement parts in, a timely manner. The part that took the longest was a shoulder bolt that heldy shell plate. They were out of stock and had to manufacture a new one took 2 weeks.

Rcbs lifetime warranty. They expect parts to brake sometimes. The parts I had break were used for 20 plus years. Loaded thousands of rounds.

Yes that is the correct pin. I usually keep a 5 pack on hand in my tool box. I have broken a few over the years in my RCBS universal decap die. Sometimes a case with a heavy crimped primer or accidentally trying to decap a berdan primed case will break the pin.

I think a berdan case got me.

Normally when you damage/break one of the pins in a spring loaded one, the spring has taken a set and no longer keeps the pin in alignment. The springs RCBS use are junk if you run into it crimp primers. I found a spring for my AR's that is the right size and cut it to length. Now the spring does not take a set and if you do not have a bottle to catch them it will launch them with great force. But never a stuck primer. If it's the spring loaded one RCBS will send you a new assembly. Apparently they do not keep the springs in stock by them selves.

Yes. Look at your broken pin, it’s got a head on it. Older dies have a non-headed pin and were held in with a collet.
Or per the other posts, RCBS will probably send you a new one.
I too found a 9mm Berdan case. Thankfully they’re not too prevalent!

I just bought 10 of them off of Midway, the same ones you need. I can't or won't call them for replacements because they won't let me pay for them.
You have to do what your conscience permits. If you call them they will send them to your for free.
There was a time when I was really poor and they kept me supplied with them, I'm not poor anymore so I buy them from someone else so they don't have to keep giving them away to me anymore.
They took care of me when I needed it and now I buy from them through retail, to repay the favor.

Reload long enough and you’ll accumulate spares for every brand of die you have. Not to mention parts for presses, parts for priming systems parts for bullets seating, parts for powder measures, it goes on and on. Dillon even sells spare parts kits for all their rigs.

Maybe that was the case a while back. (?) In the last year, I called and asked if I could buy 20 of the springs by themselves. They sent me 5 springs free gratis, and said to call 'em for more when I needed them. (I like your idea about a stiffer spring, but I don't have anything suitable to use)

Like others, on small stuff / wear and tear items, I hate to call the MFR if it's something that I can buy elsewhere, or, like Blue, come up with a little something on your own instead!

RCBS is almost too kind. I break their stuff and call for replacement and they offer to send it to me free. I try to pay and they refuse.

I Appreciate the help and all the advice, ordered a few off of amazon so hopefully now I’ll be prepared the next time this happens. I think those dies are around ten years old so that’s not bad only breaking one pin in that amount of time.

RCBS does take care of you. I jacked up a die and called to order a new one. Totally my fault. I asked about the part number and the rep said they'd just send me a new one. I still keep spare parts around. Much less down time.
