I'm looking to try an inexpensive red dot sight for a .22 rifle just to see if I like them before spending any more money.

I've never used or seen one before and I don't have any friends that have one that I could try.

So, the options I've found that are very inexpensive and from online stores I like and trust are:
BSA RD30
NCStar DBB130
Tasco BKRD30

All of these are within a few dollars of each other and as far as I can tell will fit on the weaver rail for the 10/22.

Out of those three what's the best option?
Thanks.

I picked up a Tasco Red Dot from wal-mart for $32 a while back for my ruger 22/45. Not bad, but the dot itself is kind of big, not good for anything past 50 meters.

The Barska and BSA red dots work well enough for the money, but as others have said, the batteries don't last long.

If you are wanting to check out red dots to see if you might like one, any of the brands you listed will give you an idea of suitability.
You will likely upgrade if you decide you like them!

I use one of the BSA 30mm red dots on my saiga. Bought it for 25 bucks when I was a dirt poor college student. That was 7 years ago, and it still works like its new. Its survived countless drops, rain storms, snow storms...and still going strong. Battery like seems good enough but I always keep some spares in the grip. I could replace it with something more expensive, but why?

I have several Tasco PDP dots. All have survived on everything from 44 mag revolvers to AR and AKs. Never had a problem with battery life or failure of any kind.

I have a "Red Head" red dot on a .22 It was a 50 dollar bass pro shops deal. Its battery life is very good..haven't had to change a batter yet this year and I've shot literally thousands of rounds over the last 7 or 8 months. My only issue is the vertical seems to creep. Other than that its been fine.

I have a BSA I picked up as a "beater" red dot for $25. It's no Aimpoint but it works and has held up on everything its been on.

I even built a mount so I could use it on my 1919, as a strange gun at a 3 gun match, with no problems.

I have an older Tasco Red Dot tube type and it has worked on three different guns during the try-it-out stage. Can't beat it for testing an idea.

If I were going to put a higher performance optic on, it would likely be the Burris Fast Fire II - but that's a tiny reflex sight and I don't think it's what you are asking about?

For those of you who've used the Primary Arms Micro dots, how does the battery life compare to the Aimpoint micro scope it looks like it's derived from?

Anyone who would run a 1919 at a 3 gun match is officially my hero.
