Then why didn't they design the order page so you could not even choose more than one unit?
You mean, why didn't they expend time, money and effort to keep people who break the rules from penalizing themselves? Why bother?

Not sure if anyone has explained this yet or not. But if you get enough people doing exactly the same thing on a website, like buy the same item, it's going to crash regardless of the server/structure.

It's the concentrated queries that's chokes it up. I'm sure some got through, most likely closest to where the server is located.

The Buds statement could have been delivered with a bit more tact, this is true. But you still have dozens of posters just on the High Road taking the low road by assuming the worst and making libelous accusations of "scam" and "bait and switch".

To quote Dennis Leary, "life sucks, get a bl**ping helmet."

The backlash against Buds black Friday debacle is an overreaction by people who were disappointed they didn't get a foreign made bottom barrel weapon for 75% off. So sorry.

Boycott Buds if it makes you feel better. At least they didn't pull some crap like CTD. How many have stuck to that boycott in the last couple years I wonder?

Buds has lots of customers. This was obviously an attempt to get MORE. Afraid the opposite might have happened.
Can't speak for Buds, but I can say that if I were a gun dealer, I wouldn't be all broken up about losing "customers" who are upset because their own decision to break the rules prevented them from buying merchandise at $200 under cost.

That's the kind of customers most businesses would be happy to lose.

So your blaming the customer? Yep, that's what Bud's said.
Yeah, pretty much. A couple (hundred... or thousand maybe) idiots who think the rules don't apply to them may just be responsible for this.

This sort of crap happens every year. I remember the PlayStation 4 release, some self entitled d-bag who just had to get a PS4 for her kid ended up shooting someone because they (the victim) got the last one and she (the dimwitted moron) did not. So shoot a person and steal a video game system. Kid ended up with neither a video game system or a mother to deliver it since she went to jail for attempted murder and a whole litany of other charges.

Yeah, its greed on the part of customers who feel they are entitled to the discount price and refuse to accept the fact that they simply didn't get one. That's life.

I don't participate in the madness. It isn't worth the frustration to save the money on something I hadn't planned to purchase in the first place. If I had planned to make the purchase, I'd have the money to pay full MSRP, like any reasonable person. If I happened to be one of the lucky few to snatch up a deal, spectacular. But to rely on that fleeting chance is folly.

LOL, Buds has lots of customers. This was obviously an attempt to get MORE. Afraid the opposite might have happened
If you read the statement, they said this was meant to reward long term repeat customers. The fact that several thousand new accounts were made just to get this deal lends credence to the greedy customer theory. Now I wish I could see the data and see how many of those new accounts will stick around over the next 6 months and actually make a purchase. My guess is that less than 5% of new Black Friday accounts will ever make a purchase.

I've never shopped through Buds. This, however, is not enough to prevent me from doing so in the future.

This was meant to reward long term members? Really? Was this an open sale or limited to existing members? It would have been quite easy to limit sales to existing members. This obviously is just an excuse and attempt to save face. Total bullcrap.

FWIW, I did not try to order from Buds and only became aware of this situation through this sight. I have no dog in this fight, except for the fact that I call BS when I perceive it

Lot of our current presidential office supporters here i see. People act like they are entitled to something and whine and moan when they dont get their way. There was probably about 5 of each available. 10000 people trying to buy it. You don't get one and your buddy doesnt get one so it impossible somebody did.

How bout you read the directions and fine print and only try to buy 1. How bout you understand you have a less than 1% chance of getting the item if everything runs smoothly and don't point fingers when you don't get it.

You are not entitled to anything. You shouldn't look to immediately blame someone else when you don't get your way

I liked Buds response and letter so much i will buy my next gun from them without looking anywhere else

Bud's owes me a $99 pistol. WalMart owes me a 50" flat screen. The government owes me food stamps. Much entitlement these days.

.....yes and apparently some are so entitled they hire attorneys and tie up the legal system trying to get more.

Ridiculous.

Get over it and move on.......

Everybody Love Bud's Again... It's our fault not theirs, don't shop for a sale, you're supposed to fall for the bait and switch you dummy.

It's not their fault if you fell for the Okeedoke. You're an idiot, if you thought you could find a deal at Buds.

Basically... You're all stupid and whiners... So shop at Buds, lmao!

It's not my fault, I don't know if it's your fault or not. It's the fault of people who didn't follow the rules and the fault of people who somehow think that when a business has a sale, they are entitled to something at the sale price. If you don't follow the rules, you aren't entitled to anything, and just because there's a sale, you aren't guaranteed to be able to buy something at the sale price. Any adult should understand that infinite supplies do not exist and that when a company offers items for sale below their cost, they have to limit their losses or they won't be able to stay in business.
It's not their fault if you fell for the Okeedoke.
Correct. It's not Buds' fault that there are apparently a lot of people who thought that there were unlimited supplies of guns for sale under Buds' cost.
You're an idiot, if you thought you could find a deal at Buds.
Not at all. There are deals at Buds, but the truly screaming deals (like $300 guns selling for $100) have to be limited in order for Buds to stay in business. I do agree that anyone who thinks that any business can sell tons of product for way under their cost probably isn't a genius.
Basically... You're all stupid and whiners...
Well, clearly this thread demonstrates that some people understand the situation. But yeah, basically... :(

Did you even read the response from Buds?

Quite easy? Running an entirely new code to sift through accounts to find out who is deemed worthy and who is not based on previous sales records would be easy? As was suggested by someone else, maybe you could develop their website next year to prevent this from happening again?

Buds was unprepared, and that alone is their fault. They should have taken more time to prepare, set an exact amount of guns aside, rather than leave it to a marketing team and a dollar amount.

If you have no dog in this fight, why are you on the front lines fighting it? You've made your call, people disagree with you. Move along.

*raises hand*

I dont know what crap you're referring to, but CTD never left a good impression on me. But I haven't dealt with them since they wanted to charge about $30 shipping on about $45 worth of small parts.

They may learn from this. Next year, they might limit the sale to senior members. If they even do a sale.

I was referring to their decision to raise their prices and use fear mongering marketing tactics to sell ARs and accessories for vastly inflated prices after Sandy Hook.

Day before Sandy Hook, S&W M&P 15 sport sold at CTD for about $650, AR mags for about $20 for Magpul P-mags. Day after Sandy Hook, the same rifles were now $1150, and mags were $80, with e-mail alerts going out to all their subscribers to "get them before they are banned, this is it, this is the end, the sky is falling!!!1!!"
Their stupid high shipping was only part of the reason I refused to shop there, and in all honestly, what still keeps me from shopping there. Their prices have come back down to reasonable levels, but I can still save money through Brownells, Midway, Amazon, etc. because I don't pay as much for shipping.

So the people that are just pointing out the debacle are whiners and just have a sense of entitlement? wow, actually i see more people here whining about the people they say are whining than the people that are supposedly whining about buds is whining.

Defending buds isn't whining.

And yeah it sure does seem like some people have lost their perspective and need to be recalibrated. I'd go further and wager most of those people didn't even want the gun and would have sold it ASAP at as close to full retail as possible.

There is a difference in pointing out a debacle ( I've pointed out it was a debacle) and claiming it was done purposefully as a scam or a bait and switch. Sorry the Buds VP didn't coddle and pander to everyone who didn't get a gun at $200 below retail. Sorry Buds decided to make a decision and explain what their IT department said was the underlying cause of the problem. The whining and hand wringing and entitled attitudes about this aren't satisfied with the outcome or the explanation. Big Whoop.

You guys made your points... I'm sure everyone will now rush to Buds for their future gun purchases... You should all get raises for your marketing acumen

If you feel you were scammed, take your business elsewhere. To buds credit, I was on KyGunco's website on Black Friday, and even their website was lagging and flicking on and off...

I also don't think people are mad about or "feel entitled" to being able to buy a $100 gun. I think they're mad about the circumstances surrounding the reason why they were unable to buy it. I think a better idea for next year would be to give accounts who made purchases above a certain amount throughout the year first dibs to purchase 1 sale item, and then allow everyone else.

Uh no. Only one person has made a statement inferring it was all a scam. Yet i keep reading about "all you whiners " and such talking about scams and "entitlements"

Bud's was "unprepared" period. Admit it and move on. Blaming the customer and consumer for trying to "buy too much" is absolutely ridiculous!!!! Are you kidding me!!!???

You idiots tried to buy too much from us!! We don't want your business you greedy losers.

LMFAO
