I'm thinking about starting up a new project.

I'm thinking about buying a complete Glock 19 and Glock 26 lower receiver, and building them up with customized parts.

Anyone ever do this?

That would be great, but you can't just buy a Glock "lower receiver", or more correctly a Frame.

That is the "gun" in the eyes of the law, because it has the serial number on it, and Glock won't just sell you a frame.

There is a company called CCF RaceFrames LLC that sells aftermarket metal Glock frames.
You can expect to pay way more for the frame, plus the slide, barrel, and internal parts needed
to complete a working gun then a new Glock would cost.

Glock does not sell frames, and there are not all that many aftermarket parts available.

A local gun shop here in NC sells NEW Glock lower receivers.

You are right -- It is the "gun."

I'm not concerned about the cost as this is a fun project. I'd really love to have a 100% customized Glock that is tailored to my specifics.

I have seen several glock factory frames listed on gunbroker. I believe that most of the ones that I saw were from the same seller but I didn't verify if they were. It does seem that they were listed as glock lowers but that doesn/t make it right.

I took my fullsize Glock 22 and cut my frame down to the size of a Glock 27 . Here it is . It was also a RTF frame with the really rough texture so I sanded it down smooth. Thats why it has a soft look to it . It is like a long-slide G27 ;)
I say go ahead and try your project . It is fun modifying with them . I would love to see it .

Glock sells bare frames, probably just not in the US much. I have two G17 bare frames at present (one od one black) and a G20 OD frame that my dealers currently getting for me.

Definitely post your finished product.

I have thought about sending my Gen2 G17 in to have the grip chopped down to the length of a G19. Other have said that it is a very nice setup which gives the platform more flexibility.

My camera makes it look like it is warped . The other photos I post close up are the same too .

FiveTwoSeven,

Would that be a G17SS ( short slide)? Or a G26LF ( long frame) ? LOL. For the distinguished Glock Pistolero that enjoys having a full sized frame, without the nuisance of that extra barrel length! I think we could spin it and revolutionize the industry.

Glock could start making G26's with G19 slides and G17's with G19 frames. I think it would be a pretty good seller. I would buy one.

The more I look at it, the more I think something is warped. Either the frame or the slide itself? A funny camera wouldnt make the lock block and top of trigger pack visible. Id put a straight edge on it none the less.
Ive seen the dustcovers warp up causing the same effect.

Stock Glock frames are available. Glockmeister sells frames & they're also listed on GunBroker.

I thought about building a steel framed Glock just for the fun of it. I ended up being lazy and just picked up a G23.

It might be cheaper to find a police trade in to work on and then go the direction your heart desires.

I picked up an complete RTF on gunbroker a few months ago and built the slide mostly from lone wolf parts,
built it as a 17 for a can and it came out the exact way I wanted but I'm considering swapping some parts out now.

Edit: I forgot to mention how slick it looks with no slide markings, also the final cost was about $400 more than a NIB Glock

NO it's not warped . I have fired it and it is just fine . The cameras is just messed up . I'll post more pictures.

There are a couple custom smiths who do the Glock chop.

A G17 that takes 19 mags. and a 19 that takes 26 mags.

Bowie Tactical Concepts is where my G19 is getting ready to take a trip to.

A buddy of mine got his worked on by Bowie last year and his stuff is top notch.

Another reason I could see for doing this is if you want the Glock in .50 GI without having a .45 or 10mm slide sitting around.

Currently doing it now, I bought a complete Glock 19C and have $600 worth of parts on wish list. Probably going have a grip reduction and some stippling done. Will use G17 mags with +2 extentions.

Glockstore.com

Glockmeister.com

they will have everything you want

Parts available for Glocks? :confused::confused::confused:

It's a fair toss up between Glocks, 1911s and 10/22s about which one has the MOST after market parts (no fair counting stocks and grip screws/bushings--Glock doesn't have those :D). And there's no problem gettting most factory parts (springs, extractors, etc.).

Good luck. Great project.
