I know someone who wants to build an AK-47. He says he wants the best quality at the lowest price, and I told him that I could help in that endeavor. The thing is though, I haven't had AKs on my radar for a long time.

1. Where can I get the best quality for the lowest price? I understand that an executive order has blocked the importation of Russian parts kits. Does that mean no Arsenals, no Saigas?

2. What should I know about 922r?

Arsenal is Bulgarian

Most of the parts kits I see are Polish, Hungarian and I think some Romanian

Honestly, these days building an AK isn't as cheap as it used to be. Best quality for best price is probably going to be a Yugo.

Yeah, the parts kit with barrels seem to be running $450+...then the receiver is $50+.

If building is the object go for it, if best quality and lowest price are the object, I would just buy pre-built

If you were to build and ispect your project to enusure every tiny part of that gun meets Russian Mil Spec Standards except for of course the most useful spec, full auto capability, if you want to keep it legal anyway.

Would you then have saved any money if you end up with a top quality AK that is put together properly ?

Will the sum of the cost of the parts exceed the cost of a ready made AK of high quality that either needs little or no work.
