Hello all, I came across a pound of Bullseye powder awhile back and since I never see it on shelves out here I grabbed it.

I’m going to load some 230 Grain Xtreme Plated 230 Grain Round Nose and figured I’d load 50 to punch holes in paper when I go to the range next Weekend.

Most likely I’ll take my Colt Lightweight Commander this time. 4.25” barrel.

I’m thinking of using it for a light target load perhaps 4.8 Grains with a coal if 1.250 perhaps 1.265 .

Do any of y’all use bullseye under a 230 grain bullet for target shooting 5-15 yards? Or is it better suited for a 200gr LSWC or a 200 grain Rn, I see Alliant data says 5.7grains - 10% is 5.1 So 4.8 would be 15% below max.

Thanks,
Craig.

I use 5 grains of bullseye under all my 230 grain rn target bullets. COAL will depend on what feeds good in your gun. My Glock 41 will feed things that my Les Baer won’t. The Baer is very finicky but shoots great once everything is dialed in.

I think they were using a DuPont bulk powder by then, but they certainly had used Bullseye before.

I have loaded as light as 3.3 gr of Bullseye and a 230 gr bullet. Under 600 fps. Minor power factor to shoot a .45 in IDPA ESP.

Bullseye works fine in .45 ACP. Everything from hardball down to off the handbook charts powderpuffs.
.45 ACP 230 gr FMJ + 4.5 gr Bullseye = 737 fps which is a nice practice load, even makes Major Power factor if you shoot IDPA CDP or USPSA SS.
That sounds like a great starting point. Thanks!
