Ive been using this for about 1000 rounds now. I load everything between 4.0 grn rainier flat nose, 5.0 grn rfn, and 5.7 rfn to 6.6 grn with 185 grn xtp bullets. Mostly what i prefer is the 200gn flat nose in front of 5.7 grn of the bullseye. I like how it performs and it doesnt seem to dirty. I was mainly wondering is there something better or something else worth trying?

WST, W-231, Zip, Competition, N310, Red Dot, American Select.

All fast to medium fast powders worth as try. Bullseye is great stuff, but has a rep for being a bit dirty.

Super clean? N310, N320.

I've tried Bullseye, titegroup, 231, power pistol, unique and blue dot all in 45acp. The two best for me- bullseye and 231.

I've been using Bullseye for a few dacades, and try other 'outstanding' powders (acclaimed on forums such as this) from time to time. I find no reason to switch to the 'new, improved' powders, and always go back to Bullseye.

5.5 grains of HP-38,with a 230 round nose,is the sweet load in my Springfield Loaded Target biker

HP-38 and Winchester 231 are the same powder, and that load works with either one. For a lot of my .45 loading, I use either Win. 231 or Bullseye. They both do the job with this old favorite.

Hope this helps.

Everyone I knew who shot .45 in IPSC switched from Bullseye to Clays to make major. The recoil signature was easier on the wrists. Many of them were getting tendonitis from shooting 10's of thousands of MPF .45s using Bullseye.

All of the fast burning handgun powders that I've had experience with, and mentioned here, work great in 45acp. Some may burn a bit cleaner than Bullseye but none outperform it and we're going to clean our guns anyway.

Also a lot of the fast burning powders tend to pressure spike a lot and in a hurry if you happen to load a bit too much, whether it be intentional or not. Bullseye does not. It burns very consistent and predictable whether lightly loaded or loaded very hot.

You like how it performs and is not objectionably dirty.

I don't see a problem here.

There are lots of different powders, many work well, and after testing them, lets see if you end up back with Bullseye.

I use Bullseye, Red Dot, W231 and Unique for 45 ACP. Today my favorite is Unique with Bullseye a close second. I always use Bullseye for 9mm.

I have had good luck with titegroup its seems to burn alot cleaner than w231 but am getting ready to try to AA#2

good stuff

Been using Bullseye for decades.....didn't someone else say that?......and have tried Red and Green Dot, 231, Unique, Clays and am still using Bullseye.
4.0 grains and a 200 grain LSWC.

thanks guys. I figured that i would mostly hear positives come from using bullseye. I may try some clays. Im still relatively new to this (about 7 months) and i like to keep it inside book maximum (hornady and rainier). Once i feel a little more established id like to push it a bit. Until then, i think ill stay with bullseye. Grandfather always taught me "stick with what you know works".

Just make sure that you get the correct Clays. There are three different powders with Clays in the name.

Bullseye meters exceptionally well, is suitable for a large number of cartridges with loads of published pressure tested data and provides excellent accuracy with minimal velocity variation. With respect to alternatives there is a huge number of choices for 45 ACP. Amongst the cleaner burning are WST, American Select, E3, Clays, VV N-310 and VV-N-320.
