I am considering purchasing this scope for my Icon Precision Hunter .243 I have read several reviews which have been favorable. I also looked through an Elite 6-24 with the 1" tube and 1/4 MOA dot. I was impressed with the clarity. I am looking for a scope to be use to shoot out to the 600 yd mark and possibly 1000 from time to time but I doubt it. The reviews say the elevation is limited but I think I will be OK for 600yd, espically since the Tac. has the 30mm tube. Any insight about this scope would be greatly appreciated. I also read about using bases with a 20 MOA cant to help solve the lack of MOA elevation travel. However, since the Icon has the picatinny rail built into the scope I was wondering if I could us two different height rings to help with this. Like a Med and High, will this work? Anyway, again any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

I greatly recommend it... I have one on my CZ 527 varmint.... I am extremely pleased.. the quality of the image is as clear as my leupold vxIII... mine has a side focus adjustment, but it is hardly needed as on a medium setting I can see a fly land on an orange at 100 yards and see ants crawling into holes at 5 ft... with no adjustments.... you could say I am impressed.

not sure about mixing rings.. I wouldnt recommend it.

No way would mixing rings work;) The Bushnell Elite Series scopes are awesome, not sure if 50 moa at 100, will get you to 1000, but it should get you to 600.

Thanks for the replies, didn't think the ring mixing would work, but I am new to this long range stuff. I have a Leupold VX III 4.5x14 on the gun now with Leupold Mark IV Med. Picatinny rings. I assume I will need a set of 30mm high rings. I love the Leupold rings but may use the Burris Xtreme Tac. rings for this scope. Any opinons on the rings would be apprecated as well. Thanks for the feed back, any more would be appreciated.

I went with a set or warn rings on my cz... I will NEVER have to worry about this scope moving....

The Burris XT rings are very well made, and with 6 screws per ring.......:D

For the money, those rings can't be beat! Only down side to them is there so wide, you limit the distance you can move the scope. I needed a smidge more forward adjustment on this AR, but was limited by the super fat rings.

Any ideas on what height the rings should be for this scope. My rifle has a heavy barrel with very little taper, it the measurment at the bore is just over 3/4".

Thanks Again,
David

Ring height is determined by the taper of the barrel, the height of the receiver above the barrel, and the size of the objective. The same rifle with a 40mm may use medium and 50mm may use high. It would be best to take it to a shop and try different height rings.

I use Burris Zee rings with .020 offset inserts on my 1,000 yard 7mm mag Sendero. The inserts self align and don't leave ring marks. Highly recommend them.

I have several Elites. If I were getting a new scope, I'd look hard at a Burris Black Diamond

OK looked at this 4200 Elite scope @ my local shop again today. This scope seems very nice and the price is $419.99. It is a 6x24x40 with the 1/4 MOA Dot and very very find duplex. My question is do you guys know if Bushnell can change the reticle in the scope, I know Leupold does it for sure but what about Bushnell. What I am worried about is, I don't think I will be able to see the dot in low light conditions while hunting. Any opions would be appreciated. Also I think I would use the Burris Z-Rings with the inserts to help gain the MOA necesarry if I was going to try beyond 600 yds. I think this scope would have the necessary MOA to get me to 600. Again any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

I have one on my M1A. I love it.

I paid $485 1-2 years ago. $419 seems like a good price.

I have ordered the scope and hopefully it will be here tomorrow, along with a set of Burris Z rings to help with the lack of MOA. I ended up ordering the 6x24x50 with side focus. I believe they call it the tactical, it has the tactical turrets and a mil-dot reticle. The down time waiting on the scope has allowed me to load some more rounds so when it comes in I will be good to go! I am hoping Santa brings the 6x24x40 with the dot, I would love to put that on my 22lr! Thanks again for the feed back.

Hope the weather is nicer in your neck of the wood, so you can dial er in! Our weather has gone all to hell, with blizzard warrnings and stuff like that:(

We received a little snow last week but that has gone by the way side the only problem right now is this freaking wind 20-30 mph for the next couple of days. Hopefully I will get a chance to shoot this weekend.

My wife is supposed to head to Alpena MI, next week for work but I belive that trip is going to be rescheduled. Where are you located and how much snow did you receive?

David

I'm in Battle Creek. I'd say we've got 8-10", just far enough away from Lake Michigan, to miss all the heavy lake effect:cool:

David, I second the Burris Signature See rings, you done good, but you may need the $13 Posi-Align Kit (graduated inserts) to help lift that scope for your 1000 yards shots.

Well I put the scope to work today, and I am very pleased with the purchase. It was a little windy today so I didn't go beyond the 200yd mark. Going to head back out to the range again tomorrow, the wind is supposed to lay but still pretty cold in the AM. It sure was nice to dial up those 200 yards targest, can't wait to check it out @ the 600yd mark! By the way I do have the inserts and I believe I have added about 20 MOA of elevation. We will find out once we start stretching things out! I have to say again very nice scope, runs very close with my Leupold VX-III's. I really like the side focus and tactical knobs. I will have to post a picture of my rig when I get a chance.

Well I have had a chance to shoot and really get to know this scope. My overall reviews is that I am very pleased with the purchase. I did have a couple of questions for those of you who on these scopes. Is the clarity of the optics less when you have them cranked up to 24? I use the side focus but I can still not get the picture as clear as when it is on 18 power of less. Also does anybody have trouble when shooting towards the horizon after sundown. I have a spot to deer hunt and I can shoot nearly 500yds but it is facing the horizon. Yesterday I was checking the scope out and sighting some deer that where grazing in the field. When I crank the scope up it just goes bronze colored as if the amber from the horizon is all you see. Now I am not looking right in line with the horizon but up on a bluff aiming down at about 45 degrees. Again has anbody had a similar issue or is it just me. I tried the sun shade that comes with the scope but that helped very little. If I face the other way there is no problem at all. Just wondering if this is something I should talk to bushnell about?

Thanks,
David

I've got the Buschnell elite 4200 6x24 on a Remington 700 .223. Everyone who has looked down it has commented how nice it is.
