Bought myself a new gun today. The whole experience was nearly as blissful as life gets, with one exception.
The store was full of other guns.
I had to wait for my background check.

You can guess what happened...

I am now officially in lust with a FN FiveseveN.

Oh well, it's nice to have a goal in life other than those that are work-related.

Ditto...

LOL...You made me laugh so hard that I had to finally sign up on the message board. I've been a long time reader but for some reason never joined. I feel exactly the same way. I love new things and trying to master them.

Buying guns makes me want to buy guns.
Reading about guns makes me want to buy guns.
Looking at pictures of guns makes me want to buy guns.
Reading about politics makes me want to buy guns.

Breathing makes me want to buy guns.

I know exactly how you feel. While waiting to pick up my gun the other day I found two more begging me to take them home. I calmly explained them that I am not made of money and can only adopt one at a time and that some other nice man/woman will come along and give them a good home soon. :)

So what'd u buy today?

The Glock 34 I have been obsessing over for the past few weeks.
Plus a Rovatec Bullite, new range bag and 1000 rounds.

It was in celebration of my Citizenship oath next week and BAG day.

BAG day should be a monthly occasion.

I'm 45 and hooked....

Help, it's been five months since the first handgun purchase (at the ripe age of 45) and I just picked up my 5th gun yesterday. My wife is claiming I need an intervention....

How did it start you ask...Last December, I finally went along (with a friend who had been hounding me for years) to the local shop and bought a 92FS as my "starter". Figured I'd try and get proficient and add to the collection later. Within two weeks I had become overwhelmed with the need to add to the collection. Let's see, 9mm in hand... which way should I go, up or down...what the hell, couldn't decide, bought a Buckmark Contour and a Raging Bull 444. Wait, accessorize on line, put a Red Dot on the Buckmark and every tool necessary to keep them all clean (am I the only person that likes to clean his guns? The wife thinks I'm having an affair in the basement). Also had to pick up a holster and mag holder for that IDPA match next week.

Ok, waited a couple more weeks but became aware that there was a gaping hole in my collection. How can anyone have guns and not possess a classic 1911 you may ask? Well, I asked and bought...a Springer lightweight fullsize. (at this point I'm wondering where my the extra cash I thought I had in the bank had gone...it's a mystery). Ok, now any reasonable person would realize a gun purchase a month is approaching a point for serious counseling but where oh where (I asked) was that CCW I would need if the Illinois ever passed that CC law (fat chance). Not to be dismayed by our dim chances at passing a CC law, I searched anyway and picked up a nice little Thunder 380 Nickel just in case. (Told the Mrs. it was for her and her little hands when she finally joins me at the range......but of course there was no way I could let her fire a gun that hadn't been broken in yet...much to dangerous. Even picked her up a case of 380 to make sure she has plenty of practice ammo). So I hope to get the range shortly to make sure "her" Bersa is in tip top shape.

So there you have it, five months, five guns and over 7 months left in the year. Meanwhile, I think she's still planning the intervention but I'm hoping to get that Hi Power before she takes the checkbook away.

Is there a pill I can take to stop the craving?

Yeah, but the major side effect is death, so it's better just to keep it satisfied.

As a medical professional I can state for a fact that there is no pill and no cure for this wonderful disease. Your best hope is to embrace your phychosis and feed it.

Latecomer I can relate to you. I'm 35, Bought my first gun (a Brownign Grade one 22lr rifle) on May 4th 2003.

My little brother married into a big time hunting family and I married a farmers daughter who has 4 brothers that love to shoot. I started hunting at age 33. Love it!! I will be hunting Deer in North dakota and Pheasant in South Dakota this year........wife said I could!!!!!:D I now have 10 guns. And I have Ruger Vaquero 5.5 inch stainless steel 357 mag dreams currently.

My dad has never really got into the gun thing when we were growing up. He hunted alittle with buddies while in the Air Force in the 60's but let it go. Now Dad and I have conceal permits. Brother will soon.

I now have 3 boys under 3 years of age. Hopefully they will want to go hunting with Dad and Grandpa and their Uncles.

The adicction will be handed down:D

yeah velojym the major cause of death is by Govermentitis (inflammation of the "state") Coupled with the patient having a weak civil defense response.

Quitting smoking was cake next to this...

Maybe a patch?

BTW - Thanks for your support. (Although I have to admit I was just over on Bud's gun site checking prices...there I said it).

Admitting you have a problem is half the problem! Right?

Latecomer,
Isn't that what the Democrats want us to do? Buy a gun a month. I believe it was their idea.

I tend not to want to bulk all Democrats into a single anti gun box as the more I look into things it is a very loud, very ignorant, sub group of the party. Real Democrats, the Democrats of days past, the ones being overshadowed by the liberal wackos running the show, are a group of folks to be admired, even if not agreed with on all things. That being said......

I submit that more guns have been sold and put on the streets due to the crazy uber liberal, anti gun liberals such as your Brady's, Feinsteins's, Kennedy's etc. then if they would have just left well enough alone.

Back in the late 80s, your scary EBR type rifles were dying as a consumer product. The average gun owner saw them as ugly weapons that had little utility beyond SD. Enter the 94 Upleasantness and low and behold "Assault Rifles" :scrutiny: suddenly had all the press/publicity in the world and you know what they say, there is no bad publicity. The result is an market for the AR15 that I personally think would have never happened, nor would we have such wonderful high capacity itty bitty guns such as the Glock 26 etc.

These anti crazies are their own worst enemy and give real Democrats a bad name.

The disease started out a few years ago with a AR.Then it spread with a S-W 9MM.A 357 and a CCW led to a 380 for summer carry. Then the itch kicked in and that brought on a 870 and a 10/22. A C-R followed and that hatched a M44 and a SKS.Started feeling real bad and had to do a AK to feel better. With 2nd safe going I'm hoping to last out this year.Left a few out...do not tell the wife.

If people could actually see what true dems and true reps were like they would be suprised at how small the differences are between the two parties. Only when you compare the radical right (which currently controls the reps) and the looney left (that has started taking over the dems) do the differences seem massive. The main diffeence between the two parties has primarily been what role govt should play in peoples lives.

You can't leave out accessories from the fever.

I bought an Aimpoint and an EOTech today, so I could try them both out and see which I like better. I may end up keeping both, despite the $1200 dent (with mounts). :uhoh:

Can completely relate
Last year, went into my favorite toy store.
Found a real nice Kimber 1911 ( i dunno which one, there are 100's of models, nice trigger, etc) I start filling out the paperwork, the guy is busy, i look down.
Hey, what's this black Kimber 1911 .22LR? Oh yeah, used, he says, 5 mags, etc $500
oh, ok, add it to the list.
So, he takes the 4473 and enters it into the computer (he does it online instead of thru phone). we're waiting and waiting and my wife gets tired and says I'm going to go wait in teh car.
We're waiting (must have been a gun show or something) and I say what else you got?
Oh hey, check out this 6" Diamondback 22LR:what:
Wow, that's pretty
The paperwork comes out and he says "shoudl I add it to the list?"
oh sure
I buy the whole bunch adn walk out with 3 boxes.
The wife looks at me and says "didn't you only buy 2 guns?"
Why do you have 3 boxes?

Latecomer, run, do not walk, to your local gunstore and get that Hi Power.

I've been shooting several of them since the mid 60's, and I love every round out of them. My favorites are the Fabrique Nationale guns especially those with a seriel number beginning with "T" They are the Deep Blue classic Browning, Combat sights, wood grips....oh man my mouth is watering just thinking about them. I think I need another one myself right now.

Also, buy another one, maybe a stainless/blue one you don't mind beating up a little bit.

And the FM Detective model with it's small barrel, you'll love the balance of that one.

THEN you can start looking for some assorted OTHER models of Hi Power.

Good luck....now go to the gunshop.

Bill

As I tell my wife, who to be honest, also suffers from the same problem, but has more control and good sense than I do, "Honey, don't think of the guns we have. Think of the guns we DON'T have." :neener:

Im embaressed to let the size of my problem out even to a bunch of junkies like you! Latest example I bought a S&W 642 w/CT 305 Laser Grips. Didnt know which style laser grip I wanted so I bought a spare set of the old style also. Nothing like a close to $800 pocket gun!:uhoh: I got my CCW 3 weeks ago and have bought 3 CCW guns since the week before I got it! Oh and if that doesnt give you a good Idea this may. I have 3 brand new guns that havent been shot yet(I havent been to the range in a month:barf: its made me sick). They are the 642 a PPK/S and a Kel-Tec PLR16(that has been fully accessorized). I hadnt had anything specific on my mind as of this morning as far as pistols but that FN pic changed that. I also just sent off for my C&R a few days ago and I dont even want to think about the hurt its gonna put on my funds!

Whats the deal with 5.7 thought? Is it still impossible to find or very expensive? I like the idea of s bottleneck cartrige pistol

Ammo or the gun?
I just went back to look at it again.
The ammo is $18-20 for 50 rounds, and the gun was $879.
Sound like a deal to me.

Ill try to keep this as clean as possible but I figured Id get into mroe details of my sickness. I actually look forward to going to a mans throne so I can catch up on the newest Cheaper Than Dirt, etc,, You say why not do that when your not in your palace and thats becuase Im always on here!
