Just sent off my C&R FFL application today and was wanting some thoughts on what C&R eligible guns you all would be considering for purchase when the license gets approved?

Already on my list are a CZ 82 and a few classic military bolt rifles.

Thanks for the links Winchester 73!

A Nagant is a certainty. So's a larger gun safe.

This may end up being the most expensive $30 I've ever spent.

Bren 10 any one?

what are the rules with c&r as far as selling some of your collection?

Definitely get a K-31. Great shooters and you can still find 'em in decent condition. Garand and an M1 Carbine.

Have a nice time waiting for you license. They seem to be taking a lot longer for all areas of the county right now.

Remember, in addition to milsurps almost anything over 50 years old is a C&R. Lots of nice old S&W and Colt revolvers out there!

In regards to selling: The ATF recognizes that collections change; you are free to sell your C&Rs. However if you start buying them in bulk, keeping the one you want and selling the rest, some eyebrows will be raised.

I've been waiting about 8 weeks for mine now. First on my list is one of those K-31 Swiss rifles. I handled one at Cabela's and fell in love. I want to get one before they are gone.

I understand that buying and selling as much as you want is ok so long as you log it all in your bound book. Just so long as you don't do so much buying and selling that you look like a dealer instead of a collector.

I wanted the C&R for the great discounts at Brownell's, Midway, Natchez, and others.

I just saw a S&W .38/44 Outdoorsman that's sure going to eat some budget if it's still around whenever the C&R shows up.

Poor ARTiger.
You will be hooked. But it's gonna be worth it!
And remember what wuchak said:send your license to Midway,Natchez,Brownells,Sportsmen Guide,Cheaper Than Dirt and so many others to get those discounts.
That'll help defray the enormous amount of money you'll be spending on your new hobby!
Just remembered:My son-in-law(also a sick cruffler) and I bought 2 Winchester Safes(RSC's)at Sams Club for $575.00 each. With the proper safe room and security system these might fill the bill once your collection starts to grow.

VERY high on my wish list is a broomhandle Mauser. They can be kinda pricey, and you have to be patient to find one for sale sometimes, but I'll get one someday.I already have most of the "staples" covered at this point, so it's on to the more unusual/exotic/less common now.Thats the point where milsurps go from great guns for a really good, fairly inexpensive price to great guns for a fairly hefty price (as compared to the "staples" at least)

I want a CZ 82,
Mosin Nagant

Maybe one or two more bolt actions.

then maybe look around to see what else could be a bargain, maybe an SKS

...still waiting for mine to come back...

At the top: 7mm Mauser

Definitely. Of all my milsurp bolt guns, the Spanish M93 7x57 and Swedish M96 6.5x55's are my favorite shooters, and very accurate.

Remember, in addition to milsurps almost anything over 50 years old is a C&R. Lots of nice old S&W and Colt revolvers out there!

And old Remington, Marlin and Winchester rifles and shotguns.

Okay, I now have a budget thanks to an old pop-up camper we haven't popped in years, saying good riddance to 3 of my 4 AK's, a tempermental Colt AR-15 and a Belgian A-5 that I've been too afraid to hurt to take duck hunting. That's nearly $9K to fuel my new "habit" without impeding the wife's cherished credit card limits.

Since the CZ 82 led me to all this, that's $250 gone, Another $1200 for Moisin's and a K98. No desire for another SKS. That then leaves the mostly expensive stuff.

My thinking is I'm a shooter not a collector. If I can't have fun shooting the heck out of whatever, it may as well be another mutual fund.

A 50's vintage Marlin in .35 Remington has always been a secret lust. The S&W and Colt revolvers fit well in my mind, other than that still looking for ideas.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Hadn't considered the discounts available for a pseudo FFL holder and that's sure nice. (Kicks self for not getting an 03 FFL years ago just for that!)

I have one,but vintage 1977.
Is that too young?

Too young is a relative term in this part of the south . . . I.e.: "Some relatives are too young."

In the case of a nice 336 though, I dunno. Anything younger than '57 would sort of defeat the whole C&R theme, but a nice young thing in .35 Rem may turn heads around here. PM me if you're considering selling.

Im lucky, Have a '52 vintage sporting carbine in 35 Rem., Inherited from my father.

I'm also lucky to have gotten a few K-31's while prices were good as well as a few 96 Swedes. There is one 96/38 Swede, Mauser Oberndorf reciever dated 1900 with a mid 2 digit serial number. Probably most unique is the 71 Swiss Vetterli, have to convert to centerfire and make your own brass from 348 Win brass. I would like to find one the Stutzer(sp) models with double set triggers.

A nice mid to upper grade LC Smith, or side lock Lefever shotgun would be great.
