I just picked up a "new" C93 Sporter from CAI. It functions well with no problems so far, but the brass that ejects is really dirty. Is that normal or could something be wrong?

Also how should I line up the sights? It has the "barrel" type sights.

Yes, dirty brass is normal with a roller-delayed blow-back HK91-93 / CETME clone.

It has a fluted chamber, and gas pressure is allowed to leak around the outside of the case into the chamber so it can be extracted before it is ready to be!

Sights is sights I guess.
Align the front sight with the target while looking through the rear peep.

Focus on the front sight.
Your eye will automatically center it in the rear sight aperture.

How much of the front sight should be visible; just the tip or the whole blade? Thanks by the way.

If your rear sight drum has a notch in it, the proper sight picture is to rest the ring in the "bowl" formed by the notch, and set the target on that post. It is a pretty handy iron sight, I think.

You'll get used to the brass soon. Scotch Brite pads sure skim time off of tumbling if you reload.....Keeping those flutes clean is good also.

^^ Ditto. I've got three of the darned things.

I reloaded for the HK-91 for years, fluted brass and all, but these days I don't even bother to look for the 5.56mm brass that the C93's toss into the next county. I have better things to do with my time. Shoot the cheapest steel cased stuff you can get and smile.

Fun is a C93 pistol set up as a SBR ;)

Like RCModel said, it's the nature of the beast. Get use to it. I'd reload the brass only once and then it's scrap metal.

Just be glad it's only dirty...

STGW57 (very similar action but bigger) brass, vs. that of a bolt action K31 --after wiping it off (yes, the funky shoulder is intentional). Most G3-actions also beat the hell out of the brass, too.

All I have now days are a couple clones, but they both run perfectly ... now, the pistol took a bit of tinkering to get running in f/a reliably

Here's my C-93 Pistol I got a couple years ago for my registered sear:

This is my V-93 I've had for 6-7 years

Kimberkid, I think you seriously need to consider an MP51k w/sear for your collection...

Actually I have a V-51 Pistol ... does that count? It's really not much fun on F/A, by the 3rd round I'm way over the top of the target. If the NFA stamp wait time ever comes down I may get it SBR'd too.

This is the sear "kit" ... the MP5 clone is actually a CA-89 I SBR'd in 2008

The short k barrel doesn't let 308 get enough speed to throw you off so bad, though you can't see your sights for the flash :D

Eh, one more can't hurt ;) or at least that's what I keep telling myself ... but right now I'm at the point where I need to either buy another or a bigger safe.

I took a quick look on GunBroker and didn't see any; Who makes them or are they special order only?

BTW Chevelle SS ...
Mine all spit out dirty brass ... sorry I kind of derailed your thread
