Hi all...
So I've been interested in picking up a CCW for a while now in Orange County, and I know that being a "frequent shooter" is a viable reason for obtaining one.
I've spoken with Janet before who handles the Sheriff's CCW, and she told me that along with my application I'll need 2 letters of recommendation along with a letter from my range which I frequent stating that I'm a frequent shooter.
Problem is, I don't belong to a range. I shoot often, but at different ranges. Sometimes I'm at On Target, sometimes at the Sheriff's range, Angeles Range, SGVGC.... so I don't have a particular range I'm loyal to. I used to have a membership at On Target but haven't renewed it.
So... I'm thinking of joining a pistol range, most likely On Target and get acquainted with the people that work there.
So heres my question, how should I go about asking one of the people there to write me a letter of recommendation for a CCW stating that I shoot often. What other requirements are needed in the letter, and are there any tips in asking the RO's/employees to write me a letter?
Are there any ranges that are particularly easy going to write these letters?
I'm very interested in hearing anyone that has an Orange County CCW that went this path and how they went about doing this.
Any other tips you can help me with?
Should I take the CCW class before or after applying for a CCW?
Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you.
