A couple of friends and myself have been having discussions over the "power" of various handgun ammunition, much like you see on many of these threads. Shot placement, caliber, stopping power vs. multiple shots, etc., etc. :banghead: What I'm looking for is actual video comparisons of various handgun ammo.

I came across a couple of rag-tag videos on Youtube, one shooting suspended water jugs with a .45, and other shooting sitting jugs with a 9mm and a .45. My question is, does anyone know of website that shows a more detailed comparison of various ammunition? I've seen a couple of ballistic gel tests, but they just don't seem to have the feel of what a caliber is really capable of. Penetration is nice, but I'm looking for something you can really "see".

I'd love to have seen the suspended jug test with multiple calibers, as watching the .45 destroy a target mid-air (compared to two shots of .380), and the flying aftermath that ensued was quite informative of the caliber's "power". Any help in this matter would be most appreciated. :D

+1 for Box o' Truth. Very good and objective tests on many different cally burrs and boo lits.

The canteloup videos are cool but I am not sure that they prove much. The biggest issue I have with them is that the 9mm was done with a rifle and the others up to .45 all had a pistol in the mix. Not the most scientific test imho. Plus it looks like different types of ammo were used FMJ, hollow point, etc.

Just don't let yourself get up in the maximum hand cannon is the only suitable hand cannon. Like Officers'Wife said the one you can shoot the best is the one that works for you. Somebody once said the definition of a pistol is that they are all inadequate, they are what you use to fight your way to a real gun. Wish I knew who said that.

Well, if solely talkng about power, isn't the .357mag still the king of one shot stops? And .45 acp second? That is what I have heard.

stopping power

I have a video that shows what you want.it is sold in most gun cat.
still its shot placement.assasins use 22s.the OSS used them.
I can kill a deer with a 32/20 as did many before magna fever.:uhoh::rolleyes:
