Shaking my head.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-see-what-did-to-his-own-firearm-in-response/

While none of these tragic events involved his gun, Elliott said that with “every new mass shooting, I’m reminded that I bear a portion of the responsibility for our nation’s gun violence. There are too many guns to do anything about it, the gun lobby says. Regulations are a slippery slope that only limit the rights of responsible gun owners, they say.”

...“ashamed to admit it’s taken two more mass shootings for me to do anything about it.”

“That ended today.”

That day being Monday when Elliot disassembled his gun and cut the pieces of it in half with an angle grinder, including photographic evidence along with his Facebook post.

“None of us individually can stop gun violence in America, but as a responsible gun owner, I will no longer be used as a justification for doing nothing about it. Today I did what I could. Today there is ‪#‎ONELESSGUN‬.”

Elliott’s post has been shared nearly 2,000 times. Some in the comments called his action an “admirable gesture” and others said they “hope more people follow your example.”

Because he actually believes that this is progress toward a legitimate improvement.

Well it's a gesture of sorts, but does he really believe that those with criminal intent are going to do the same? :uhoh:

It's like someone who is a teetotaler saying that they are going to completely destroy their car, thereby reducing the possibility that someone who drinks and drives won't then be able to get one. :banghead:

It also looks to me like he has just broadcast to the world that now he is completely defenseless. This is supposed to make him and his family safer?

A gesture of foolishness. Its like somebody who can't spell destroying all their pens. Ain't going to work.

definitely something in the water out there...

That post is a anti-gun plant in my opinion. Notice the responses after that, it all seems staged. Note the common anti-gun buzz words...

Analysis

So he bought a shot gun at age 12 (that had to be before 1968). He bought it to hunt, OK. Remember the anti's ALWAYS bring up hunting as the ONLY reason to buy a gun. So why did he have to mention hunting? Is it because he wants the reader to believe that hunting is the only use for a gun. And the only gun for shooting is a shotgun? Read the next comment.

"I've owned several guns since, and own a handgun now. I bought that gun to keep my family safe, and lock it up to keep them safe from it. Like I said, responsible"

So he didn't own a handgun for 50+ years until recently for protection but locks it in the safe so it can't protect anyone...because he is 'responsible' ....Uh-huh

He sure has a lot of people dying of suicide, near suicides or murder suicides. A little over the top. One even dies from a "mass shooting" but fails to mention where the mass shooting took place. (Surprised he didn't mention where the mass shooting was, maybe because it didn't happen?) I'm sure someone can track that down.

So he takes his handgun that he just recently bought and chops it into pieces. Did he also chop his shotguns up too? So only the handgun is evil??? (Notice a pattern here?). He chops up his only handgun...that he just recently bought to keep his family safe. The recently bought handgun that was locked in the safe to keep his family safe?

Finally notice the list of buzzwords from the anti's play book...look at the repetition of certain words.

responsible gun owner
responsible
murder-suicide
mass shooting
gun lobby
gun violence
too many guns
responsible gun owners
common-sense laws
gun violence
mass shootings
gun violence
responsible gun owner

Did Bloomberg's Mom's Demand Attention help write or proof read that for Mr. Elliot before he posted it to Facebook? Have to get them buzzwords in there for maximum effect, eh? And make sure the anti-gun stooges are right there for follow up comments with glowing praise for Mr's Elliot's anti-gun sentiments.

I am heartily sick and tired of folks blaming me (and other gun owners) for the crimes of the criminals and the insane. I'm beginning to get really angry about such nonsense, and the coverage it gets.

I call total BS. Publicity stunt in the extreme, and nothing more. Even someone with so much bad-blood genes in his lineage should be smart enough to know his gun wasn't destined to contribute to the "gun violence problem" he believes exists.

Or, was it? Looking back, yes, he probably did his family and community a service..

notice he chopped up his 250 dollar Ruger and not his prized Browning shotgun. I bought one of those Ruger p's for 125 bucks like 2 years ago. (not saying they're bad guns, I loved it) but it doesn't make much of a statement to cut that one up.

I also don't think this was written by someone in the community. It reaks of fake.

His profile is viewable on facebook though. He seems real enough.

He's just being sensible. This is the kind of common sense solution that we need in order to end violence once and for all. How can you object when it's just so sensible? :fire:

Wait, I thought it was "assault weapons" that were responsible......

I wonder if he's going to cut his car in half over all the drunk driving deaths.

Have you all seen the comments from his friends? Its no wonder he did something like this when he surrounded by people like that. I really wish I could comment on his page. First, because someone needs to level the playing field!. and secondly because I would challenge him to cut up all of his guns. If hes so frickin passionate about it...

Another clown looking for his 15 minutes. His anti gun actions are nonsensical and nonproductive.

No criminals or lunatics are going to follow his grandstanding hapless action. The less attention paid to this fool the better.

Least it was only a Ruger...

I am also calling male Bovine manure...

He should do his bit to prevent senseless drunk driving deaths and cut his car in half now...

Oops, sorry Old Fuff, you said the same thing...
He should do his bit to prevent rape. If he doesn't have a pocket knife, I'll lend him mine.:p
