California Gun Owner Explains Why He Feels Partly Responsible for Gun Violence

His gun and he can do what he wants to. He is trying for his 5 mins of fame. No he doesn't get 15 mins cause he is not worth it.

I call total BS. Publicity stunt in the extreme, and nothing more. Even someone with so much bad-blood genes in his lineage should be smart enough to know his gun wasn't destined to contribute to the "gun violence problem" he believes exists.

Or, was it? Looking back, yes, he probably did his family and community a service..

If he really believes he is somewhat responsible for the mass murderers' actions then he can do some of the time they would have been given in prison. I was brought up that the individual person was responsible for their own actions. Also this is one of the tenets our justice system was founded on. Based on that I am only responsible for what I do.

.
Ugh.

More blissninny BS. It makes we *responsible* gun owners in CA look bad.

And it's on facebook. Aghh.

Thank God it was just a Ruger. I was afraid to look for fear it was a Beretta. Or worse, a 1911. :what:

With thinking like this, he SHOULD be getting rid of his guns.

i mean.....unless HE was planning on shooting someone..i really dont see how destroying his gun makes the world any safer....

The only thing that bothers me is that it's such an obvious, needy "look at me" stunt. Other than that, there are far worse things a lonely attention-seeker can do with a firearm.

Besides, it's just a Ruger. :D

I hate seeing any firearm of decent quality destroyed. So that makes one less firearm for the 10 million that will be produced by the end of the year... Pretty effective.

It has been proven time and time again (which is also considered common sense) that it is the idiot behind the weapon that determines whether or not it will be used for good or harm. If its not guns it will be (fill in the blank) weapon. If an individual wants to hurt another, they will find a way. Perhaps we should attempt to identify the root cause of the problem to begin with and leave guns alone. I suppose that would require a much bigger commitment than most are willing to attempt. :fire:

"Every time I see an act of violence I can't help but feel partially responsible..."

Why? Because you have a gun? Maybe cut your hands off at the wrists next, because people are beaten to death daily, too.

There's a member here with a very relevant signature line. To paraphrase, Getting rid of your guns because of "gun violence" is like removing your testicles because the neighbors have too many kids.

I agree 100% with Midwest's post # 11.

A total setup by a shill for the anti-gun culture.

Same ol' same ol'.

Well....I have to agree with him....STUPIDITY like his IS partly Responsible for gun violence .
He is just perpetuating the knee-jerk idiocy.

Although I have yet to meet a 'violent gun'. All the ones I've been around for 62 years just sort of laid there doing nothing...unless a 'violent person' misused them.

He will buy another one because I hear there are coming out with "Organic" guns. I expect a lot of then will sell in CA.

If he didn't want his gun, he could have just sent it to me. He wouldn't have had to worry about it any more, and I would have taken good care of it. I'd have given it a good home, kept it clean, taken it out for its exercise. . .

Have you ever shot one of those Rugers, the world is a better place.

Seriously, if he is foolish enough to think that if he destroys his own property he can effect something negative happening elsewhere, I can't begin to help him.

I suppose we should be greatful he is not a powerful leader and decide we need to start sacrificing people so we can change the weather patterns or something equally illogical.
