Can you get red flagged?

I was wondering if there is ever any reason to be concerned about getting red flagged because of purchasing a large number of firearms. With a govt that likes to wire tap individual citizens phones at random and use any reason to lock people away without council it is something I was just curious about. I have bought 8 firearms in less than a month and it will be 9 if I can ever find the elusive Ruger .454 Alaskan.:)

Well, I tell ya what... If you can, I'm screwed. Last year at the ATA Grand American, I bought 15 Model 12's. There ain't no law against it that I know of, But I know what you're saying.

If you buy more than one at a time (maybe its just handguns, I'm not sure) you have to fill out a special form with the BATFE, so I imagine that information goes into some sort of "red flag" folder.

If I recall correctly, if you purchase more than five guns in the same week your purchases/you may receive special scrutiny from the ATF. At any rate it flags the purchases and some kind of record is made of the fact that you bought that many.

Yes, the oppressive regime is readying a cell for you in Gitmo. And they'll flush your Koran down the toilet, while torturing you by having females guard you.

Supposedly (who knows when it comes to the F-Troop) the BATF&E's only interest is in people who seem to be buying guns for proposes of resale without an FFL or going through an FFL. They also look for large purchases of certain kinds of guns, such an "evil black rifles" or high-cap pistols. I have been reported by my receiving dealer any number of times for receiving several guns at one time, and never been bothered by the Gun Police.

However I know that they report such buys to local authorities where state or local laws may be violated (example: Chicago) so where you live might make a difference.

P.P.

"Large purchases of firearms are sometimes regulated by ATF if they're hand guns. If an individual buys more than one gun from the same dealer in a five-day period, this is reported. Long guns and shotguns are exempt from it."..Retired ATF agent Gerry Nunziato

He made this statement in '02..9/11 was fresh..things at the ATF might have changed. At any rate, I wouldn't worry. There are people buying a hell of a lot more than you!

Take Care

PlayboyPenguin (where did you come up with that handle?)

If you are a animation fan, Bugs Bunny in particular, you might remember the little penguin in the bow tie and top hat that Bugs tried to return to the north pole. That was Playboy Penguin. :)

Ah, yes, Bugs Bunny. Pretty cool. I would say, we are all probably on a list right now, being that we are actively involved in the gun culture. When Dianne Fienstein makes a coup de tat, we are all doomed.

Technically, you can buy as many guns at a time as you want under federal law, though some state, or local jurisdictions may have stricter regulations. There is a certain timeframe after an NICS check is made where they are supposed to destrtoy that information unless you were denied for cerain reasons.

If you buy multiple firearms at once, you do need to get a seperate NICS proceed number for each.

If multiple handguns are purchased at once, ATF Form 3310.4 must be used in addition to all other forms (reference: 27 CFR § 478.126(a))

I personally believe that the there are times when people may be red flagged, esp. if your state is anti gun and they run the check system. I have heard stories of people receiving unwarranted denials or delays after buying several guns in a short time, however that was within the period of a couple days. I doubt you would have any trouble at all.

sell NO, buy YES

Strange but true. Here in Massachusetts I can buy as many guns as I want, but if I want to do private sales of my guns, I can only sell 4 per year.

I just found that out today when I went to pick up my Massachusetts FA10 forms to transfer ownership of a Remington 870.

Yeah, I'm sure some goverment agency has all our ISP tracked down, our names, and a BIO on each member of the High Road. Maybe the fact there are so many of us will make them think twice before they use that information for an nafarious purpose! :what:

If you buy more than one handgun from the same dealer within a 5 day period the dealer has to send in a multiple purchase report to BATFE. Multiple purchases are not illegal under federal law, but they are reported.

I have also been told that BATFE sometimes takes a hard look at C&R licence holders who buy many guns of the same type, since they may be dealing illegally. I know some C&R holders make multiple purchases so they can keep the best, but someone who buys, say, 25 or 30 Sistema Colts on a C&R license and sells them to non-licensees just might be considered a dealer, not a collector.

Hi PlayboyPenguin-

You're joking, right? If not, please share an anecdote about anyone with whom you're familiar who has suffered this fate. Chances are they've been yapping with unfriendly folks in Pakistan and Afghanistan for too long.

Sign me up.

I go out of my way to be on the radar. I wouldn't want anybody watching the radar to have any confusion over what issue I consider important at the ballot box.

Gun owners should probably not spend time acting furtive; we're not good at it, and it ruins our posture.

C'mon...open your eyes. I know some on here are already aware of this but my military background is in MI/CID. It does not take much to see what is going on. There have been agents from both the CIA and the NSA testify in the last month that they are being overwhelmed by the massive amounts of info from the "warrantless wiretaps" this administration is conducting. They have also stated that alot of the info is coming for "broadbase searches". That is when random calls are listened to and checked for key phrases. This means anyone's call is subject to invasion at any time. Last time I checked the "right to privacy" was right up there with the "right to bear arms". If they can remove one without protest what is to stop them from removing the other. You have to be aware of this already. unless you get all your news from Fox or Rush. And the long term holding of "prisoners" without the benefit of counsel has been well documented. How many actually convictions have there been out the hundreds being held for up to 3 years now?

"Something's Happening Here.." so starts a great Buffalo Springfield tune. And it's as true today as it was the day it was written. Just happening in real time. I agree with you.

Our son is in Bahrain, and whenever we initiate a phone call, there's always a little "click" after the disconnect. It's to the point that I wait to hear it!

You, sir, are being realistic. The word "sheeple" is used on these boards quite often, and anyone who doesn't grasp the invasive proclivities of this administration falls directly into the "sheeple"category.

Not to change the subject, but I love that song. Have you heard that rap song that rips off the melody? I was listening to the radio the other day and it came on and it is done entirely to the tune of the Buffalo Springfield hit. I hate when good songs are vandalized. :)

Back on topic: Can I volunteer to be guarded by woman?

(I've made multiple handgun purchases in 5 days, in fact when I go for a permit I almost always get 2 and use them at the same time to save the nics fee - no issue)
