Caniks

I think people who actually own one are happy with them. I have a TP9SFX. It is one of my favorite pistols currently. Came with 3 mags, a holster, and three adapter plates that cover most of the popular optics out there. Great trigger. I also got it on sale and haven’t seen one within a $100 of what I paid.

I realy like my TP9SFX. For extra magazines I bought 2 Walther 18 round. I had to slightly enlarge the notch for the magazine release with a dremel tool but they work fine. I'd rather pay more for Walther mags then take a chance with promags. Megar makes the mags that come with Canik, but currently only sells them to Canik.

My buddy got one recently. I’m not sure the model. He touted how great it was when showing me. I asked what about it was so great and he showed me the case and all the crap that comes with it. Meh, not that great. Then he mentioned price point, meh, again, not so great. Then he said the trigger... I tried it, it was light but mushy. I prefer a stock glock 5.5 pound trigger. Mostly I wasn’t impressed. I prefer a glock or a SA XD for ergonomics.

i doubt that the trigger you tried was the canik rival's trigger. i love great triggers. that trigger along with the great value is what made me buy one. that being said i haven't even checked out the triggers on the other caniks. i prefer that trigger over the aftermarket powder river precision trigger i have on my xdm 5.25 and over my cz shadow 2( which is smooth and light as well with a short reset).

I have never found the appeal of Caniks. Most of the designs I have seen are just knock offs of Walther. I saw one review calling the TP9 the most innovative firearm ever made. When in reality, Walther made all those innovations in the P99. In 1997. There are even videos of swapping the slides off both models and they still fire. No thanks. I would rather pay a little more and get the Walthers.

It is unfortunate for Walther, im a huge Walther fan and have owned most of their firearms produced in the the last 14 years, but they licensed some technology from the 99 series to Canik, and Canik is now innovating past Walther with Walthers own tech. Walther still has the best ergos in my opinion, even better than HK, but thats the only area that they excell in over Canik. They have been playing catchup with Canik for about the last 5 years. Caniks quality is same as Walther, as a matter of fact I had to send the PDP I bought back... never had any issues with Canik with 9 of their guns... So unless you've been able to shoot both brands side by side, you have no idea what you are missing if you haven't shot a recent Canik product. Their triggers are better than anything Walther has put out without question. Again, Walther ergos are the best I've ever tried, but its not enough....

Not a fanboy here, this is actually true.

I am the opposite. Ergos matter more to me. Canik may have developed a better trigger, but it still grips like a Walther knock off for me. I have shot a few of the TP9 models, don't know which exactly. Wasn't impressed enough to buy one.

I agree, thatched roofs actually feel better to the hand, much softer than 3 tab or Arch 80... must be better.

Impulse bought their Whiteout Signature Series & got it to the range yesterday. Loved it. Great trigger, accurate as hell. Now if mags were in stock somewhere...

I'm also a Canik fan. I purchased a TP9SF a couple years back and it's been a very reliable handgun. I'm in a 10 round magazine gun state and with a little tweaking you can easily get pre ban hi cap Beretta 92 mags to work in with this gun no problem.

Canik mags have been coming in to a few places, but are getting sold out quickly. Have to subscribe to the auto notice if you want a chance at'em... it'll get better.

They are slowly getting available. I just got 3 at my local "mom and pop" gun shop

I picked up a Mete Sfx at the fun show a few months ago, and took it to the 'range' (i.e., out back) to check how well it was sighted.

Best trigger of any 'plastic' gun I've ever handled, completely reliable, really nice fit and finish. If I'd tried one of these earlier, I wouldn't own as many Glocks/XD's/Sigs/Whatever as I do now. Looking for more already.

Nice shooting!

So far the best trigger I have found on a polymer framed pistol is my HK VP9, followed closely by my Ruger SR9c. I have to say I have been hearing a lot of good things about the Canik Mete SFx and the SFx Rival. I really don't have a particular need for another full size 9mm. but this one sounds like something I might have to check out for myself!

I’m a Canik fan. I own two. Bought the SC Elite for my carry gun and liked it so much I bought the full size TP9SFX. My only complaint with the TP9SFX is with the big chunky mag release button. It’s a sharp cube that bothers my hand. Anyone have this issue and changed out that button? Mine is pictured.

Nice post DT Guy, I like the full info you provide on yardage and SH,WH, 2H shooting. Really describes the accuracy shown.

Thanks, that's a target I made up in Excel more than 20 years ago. I use it as a sort of 'standard' test to see where my skills are currently at.

I struggle with my eyesight these days (20/200, and I can't shoot with corrective lenses anymore) so the groups at 30' are what I used to shoot at 75', but that's just life, I guess.

If anyone's interested in the Excel file for that target, just ping me and I'd be glad to email it.
