Carried by 6, but job consequences - a case

No one said that; this has to deal with an employee violating company policy which he agreed to follow in return for a job. If I am that employee, I leave the gun at home or in my vehicle (lawful in Florida with a few exceptions) If I am the employer and have that policy, I expect it to be followed or the employee gets reprimanded/fired.
they shouldn't have to say it, as it's obvious all major employers are on the other side and either have or will implement this policy, making it effectively impossible to get a job and carry anywhere other than a small business.

I am pretty sure most employees violate at least some other company policies on a regular basis without even knowing it. Just as most of us have probably committed a felony at some point in our lives. Maybe not willfully, but definitely possible. We all make decisions everyday that may or may not be acceptable to our employers. The policies in our handbooks are mainly there as a statement from our employers, for their protection. I have worked places where even though they had a no weapons policy, they also had a don't ask, don't tell policy too. They wouldn't check to see if you complied.

While I am not advocating rule breaking, it happens. Much more frequently that most care to admit it. My company has a strict no weapons policy. Period. What percentage ignore it? Beats me. I am pretty sure my employer doesn't want to know. Yours may be different.

I work on a military base with no armory to check personally owned firearms in & out of, so 2A rights end literally at the front gate. I have to assume some level of risk driving 30 miles each way in aggressive traffic while unarmed, but unfortunately that comes with the territory of my job. It's a minor reason why I want a new job.

The problem that I see is this, to many people can't keep their mouths shut! Some just have diarrhea of the mouth and can't hold back, others just like to brag!

I'm also one of the gun guys at work and EVERYONE knows it! I will talk guns but I don't go out of my way to. Guys just know about it because I will talk about it. The managers know also but don't bother me as I've said it before, I don't bring a gun to work because EVERYONE knows I'm one of those guys.

We had one guy that decided he was going to carry while at work. Fine, I have no issues with that. The problem is, we have cameras everywhere! Even in our work place, watching all the time! So this idiots decides that he likes to show off his guns and brag about everything.

He comes to work one day and guess who is waiting for him, management and the po po! Seems they had plenty of footage of this guy waving his guns around at work and showing them to anyone that would pay attention, which was few.

Moral to the story, if you do carry, keep your trap shut! No one needs to know what type of pistol you're carrying! If you feel the need to have diarrhea of the mouth, do it away from work!

No matter how right you think you are, it's their rules, not yours! Just because the 2A says you can, the rules that you sign and agree to, say you can or can't. They can also fire you and or you can walk away from them if you don't agree. It's always that simple.

Employers regularly restrict individual rights of their employees. It's common, it's legal, and it's typically accepted as normal. Whether it's dress codes forbidding political expressions or scrutinizing social media posts, they can terminate employment for any breach of their policy.

There are protections against discrimination for people who aren't sure whether to sit or stand when using the restroom, but the law doesn't protect us from discrimination for our choices. Self preservation is a right, but having a firearm for that purpose is seen as a choice. Those shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but that's how it's viewed quite often.

A large segment of the population views the people carrying guns for protection as the biggest risk. If that doesn't change, the hard decisions will never go away.

What a drama Queen.

I lost my job many years ago in a whole industry downsizing. I was out of work for over 9 months and supported my family on credit cards since I worked totally on my job search from 7-6.

I racked up a massive debt so high that I had to refinance the house to pay the debt.

Yes, life was tough, but not the end of the world.

Yes, I had to start all over, but that’s life; you press on.

BTW, I made the mistake of watching another video of his. He just loves to hear himself talk and must think everyone is an idiot in that it takes him 15 minutes to explain a point that is understood in 2 minutes max.

Really, how hard is it to keep your mouth shut? It’s a basic adult skill.
Be a gun guy with other gun guys (and gals). You’ll figure out who they are soon enough, though I admit I’ve sometimes been surprised to discover Joe or Jane was a gun person. IT, in particular, seems to be a hotbed of unforeseen gun geeks.
I worked at my company for 4 years before the boss found out I was a reloader. One of my friends in the receiving department let it slip.
He trapped me for about an hour questioning me about what cartridges, powders, bullets, etc I use. Then he gave me some brass. Being made isn't always a bad thing.
When he asked me why I never told him. My response was it's not job related.
I got the same thing when he found out I ride motorcycles.

Every once in awhile in our discussions, someone says they would rather be judged by 12 than carried by six or unless their job has metal detectors they would carry. We usually deleted such as we don't allow posts that advocate breaking the law or not following company regulations.

So from my good friend's Karl Rehn's newsletter (www.krtraining.com), I saw this video:

The video described how a company's policies and how being known as a gun person can turn on you and the personal and family consequences of such. The author of the video was turned in by someone who overhead he was a gun person and his forbidden gun fired, leading to immediate termination and worse.

I know from personal experience that co-workers will blab maliciously. I knew a person involved in a major scandal (nothing to do with me) but some jerk told the local papers I knew that person and I had to deal with phone calls looking for dirt on the scandal participant. No thought that maybe I didn't want to talk to the papers.

At work, I did not hide my gun world involvement. I did get some administrative flack for it, but acting against me was neigh on impossible unless I did something stupid like forbidden guns at the workplace. I avoided that and followed the rules.

This case is one reason, we take out the posturing 12, 6 posts.

Sorry but your video would have had greater impact without the OVERBOARD melodrama.

It loooked to me like a well scripted pity party.

And as to working in a place that actually locked up the "kitchen knives" well that would be my ass out the door.

And as to my job,it was not "white collar" ,as I was an LEO.

And for the first 10 years on my job,I was forbidden from carrying a BUG.

And yes I did so as my not having it would ACTUALLY HAVE COST ME MY LIFE = if I needed the one and it took a ****.

I might have felt some pity for you,but your delivery and your drinking threw that out the window.

Possibly you could have applied yourself to a job where you were required to carry a gun ?.

Or was that beneath you ?.
