Carry Dilema - G19 or 1911

I realize I am new here.

I wasn't trying to bust anyone's chops by suggesting whatever you carry you can shoot into a 10 inch circle.

I will try the run in place for 3 minutes and then shoot the 10 inch circle thing myself. If I can't then I know when I won't be using my weapon.

I never want to shoot wide of my target and will achieve the level of skill it takes to hit it no matter what or I won't pull and shoot.

That said. Joey keep practicing with both ,one will surface as the one you can shoot well.

By all means defend yourself the best you can always.

Practice makes perfect.

20 yards or more is my goal that I will achieve. If I can only do it at 10 yards then I will know. Keep it real you may never take a shot back.

imho

I carry the Glock 19 as it is lighter, hold more rounds and is more resistant to corrosion from perspiration than any of my 1911's. Its a lot easier to pull the Glock apart and wipe the metal parts down with an oily rag at the end of the day than to do the same with a 1911 and you don't have to worry about the plastic at all.

If you're shooting at someone 100 yards away, chances are you're going to jail.

I had a G19 and loved it. It wasn't my favorite carry piece. That spot is reserved for a S&W 340PD. I would also recommend a 642 or similar.

As for holsters...

The DeSantis Cozy Partner for the Glock 19 is an excellent *carry* holster. It's not a training holster (ie: one to take to a class on a hot day). It's also reasonably priced and you should receive it quickly. One advantage is that it has lots of forward cant. This enhances concealability for strong side inside the pants carry.

If you want to carry at the appendix (AIWB), try a Blade-Tech IWB. You can adjust the cant: forward for strong side, and vertical for appendix.

The VM-2 is great for larger, heavier guns, but the widely spaced straps aren't needed for the Glock 19 (it's light enough, even when loaded). The G19 won't flop around in the Cozy Partner.

I'm partial to slim guns for carry, as it makes the concealment part easier. I'm also partial to guns that I shoot well, and for me that's a 1911. As a result, my daily carry is either my PT1911, or my Mil-Spec. I'm 6'0, 225 lbs, and with a Don hume pancake style holster, they just disappear. Even OWB, I can hide them with an untucked t-shirt, if need be, though I generally wear a tucked t-shirt, with a short sleeve cotton button down untucked over it for a cover garment.

That gives me a thought, maybe I should get another holster, this one a lefty, and carry both! what's a better BUG than a 1911? balance the load out, too...

I like the Glock in the summertime. In a IWB holster there is no problem if you sweat on it. I ate the bluing off the side of a Detective Special with sweat one hot muggy day.

tKarter welcome to THR from a fellow jayhawker.nice response very much the high road and refreshing.
we all should practice until we can put all shots COM and 10" is about right.I don't think I can run in place 3 min then put 10 rounds in 10" at a hundred yards with airweight j frame.so I'll have practice till i can. ROFLMAO
BTW I agree if you can't pass ccw live fire in KS you should sell your guns and move to England. KS live fire is a joke.guess its ok if they are watching gun handling.but 10 yards slow fire and stay in the black of B27 silhouette come-on
