In California, for example, your hotel room is your temporary residence. Your campsite may be considered a temporary residence. Your RV, when parked and serving as a campsite, is your temporary residence; but on the road it's a vehicle. If you're a house guest, at least your bedroom is your temporary residence, but of course your possession of a gun there would be subject to the desires of your host.
