CBS News Pro-Gun Article

Interesting take focusing on the relaxing/meditative quality of shooting rather than the Hollywood, noise and action version.

CBS knows how to read.
More background checks.
More women joining ranges.

Want to bet some upper end producer went to a fancy dinner party and found out half the women there shoot?

There's nothing like numbers to get the attention of the press.

Glad to see a piece like that...but note that the anti-firearm social bias is the starting point of the reporter, and the "interest" of this "human interest" story is that firearms aren't, apparently, all inherently evil/bad.

That was just a token article, offered to "prove" that CBS isn't biased.
That's awesome! :D

Reminds me of a few years ago when someone declared that the Obama administration had orchestrated the whole "PANIC," thus tricking the public into buying up massive quantities of semi-auto rifles and case after case of ammo, in order to create a shortage so that more folks couldn't buy even more guns and ammo.

Yup, arm as many hundreds of thousands of people as you can with as many guns and as much ammo as they can afford, in order to create a shortage of guns and ammo because we're against people having them! :D

The mind wobbles.

So CBS will write a positive news piece on gun ownership to fool us into thinking that they might someday present gun ownership in a positive light. Well I'm not falling for it! :neener:

Most states require training and safety courses before using firearms, and there are programs popping up throughout the country teaching women to do just that

Was a nice and informative read right up until the end where that completely uneducated statement was printed. Now, anyone that MAY have been interested in firearms, may get dejected right from the start when they see "they will have to go through a training course just to buy a firearm".

While the whole of the piece was nice and a good mark for us, that little misconception could set many people down the uninformed path thinking they will have to jump through too many hoops just to purchase a firearm so it's just not worth it. Even little lines can cause BIG problems.

OP- Thanks for the link !

Positive spin on female gun ownership- From the MSM? :what:

All I can say is it's about time and thank you CBS and the "better half" of our shooting community :D.

Gotta love it ;) .

Not what I have normally come to expect from the
C ommunist
B roadcasting
S ystem....

Freedom, on the other hand if they see "training course" they may think "oh, these aren't just your random 21-year-old call-of-duty wannabes getting guns, people are actually getting the proper instruction."

Then again, you are entitled to put a negative spin on everything if you want.

Wow, that's trying REALLY hard to find a cloud to wrap around this silver lining. Can't we just accept that this is a relatively positive news story and leave it at that? Stories often have small mistakes because they are written by real live humans.

This story is a single, relatively positive news story, in a sea of negative slanted biased news stories. I'm skeptical.

Skeptical of what? That they are still probably pretty anti-gun on the whole? I'd agree.

But... A positive story for us is still a positive story. It beats nothing, and it beats the hell out of something negative.

Maybe they are trying to get more women to buy guns so men will feel emasculated. Then they will be forced to shoot bazookas, driving tanks, and making bombs to feel like men again.

Then their plan will start to unfold and they can show us how dangerous guns are. Like gateway weapons to the harder stuff.

Smart fellas the big city writers

Wow! Yoga instructor, skinny fem mom and black woman NRA(!!!) instructor. All outside the usual stereotypes. Excellent. Short, but excellent.

The last time I saw something like this on a network with an anti gun bias was John Stossel's segment on 20/20 and you know what happened to him.
