an i dont mean a 2nd carry gun i mean if your primary gun breaks do you have a dedicated 2nd one till the primary gets back from the shop?

i didnt.

now i do have a few other pistols but there are none i trained with as much or had holsters an spare mags an ammo for.
i think my next purchase will be to fix this deficiency!

food for thought an a lack of foresight on my part

on a side note being in NV most of my pistols are on my CCW license. its the little things i dont have. holsters, spare mags, sufficient training in draws an malfunction fires.

It depends on how you define BUG. I have a second weapon I've qualified with and can use, but it's not identical to my primary weapon.

It's probably good policy to have two of your primary, one to carry and one to train with. That way you do have a spare.

i think i stated it wrong.

By my definition a BUG is a 2nd gun carried on the person. it is the hold out oh crap SHTF gun. also if the primary jams, malfunctions, kabooms there is the BUG.

my topic of discussion was what replacement/alternate. do folks have if they have one for there primary carry piece.

Main CCW is a Springer (PX9109L) and the back up gun is a CS9 (the latter is used on certain ocassions, usually in a surfers fanny pack). If I ever have to send the 1911 to SA for some repairs or upgrades at least I still have the CS9.

Are you kidding me? Given the state of things now days, I carry at LEAST two guns, two knives, pepper spray and a kubaton on me at all times.
:what:

So do I, plus a rifle in the truck and a walking stick when I'm on foot.

Yep, wearing it right now while my primary is in the shop getting worked on. Current secondary carry is very similar in manual of arms to primary but not exact and not same caliber. Eventually I would like to get a duplicate of my normal carry gun as recommended by some of our "more experienced" members, haven't sprung for it just yet. I do practice with my backup just about as much as with my primary carry gun though.

Yep. Two 5" steel 1911's and two LW Cmdr 1911's set-up about 95% identical to each other.

I've got kind of an embarrassing number of guns that I'd be perfectly comfortable carrying. (I keep running into good buys on snubbies, and they're kind of addictive.) And, just to be extra cautious, at least one suitable carry gun living in a friend's gun safe.

(In Minnesota, we don''t have any form of gun registration, including that for carry guns, so I could, if I wanted, switch off daily.)

You betcha, Baby!

Current Primary: Kel-tec P40
Current Secondary: Kel-tec P32

I try to carry both Kel-tecs simultaneously. If I must carry the P40 in a less-than-accessable-manner (ankle, boot, belly band, etc), the P32 is my means to give me time to get to the P40. Otherwise, it is a true BUG.

Sometimes it is just easier to pack another gun than a spare mag.

I also have an AMT DAO Back-Up in .45ACP on those occasions my P40 is not in a condition to be carried (filthy from a range session, at the 'smith, etc).

I hope to get a quality IWB holster (Milt Sparks VM2 looking mighty tasty) so I can pack my SW1911 as my Primary.

Generally, I also tote a Beretta folding knife as well as my cell phone.

Shoot-Move-Communicate!

I carry a Glock 17 in the winter, when it's easier to conceal, and a Glock 26 in the summer or when I otherwise can't conceal the Glock 17. So, yep, I've pretty much got that covered.

Started out with a Ruger P95DC, blued.

Turns out my corrosive personality extends to ferrous metals -- I started seeing little rust stains on my SmartCarry.

So I got a KP95DC, in stainless steel.

If my wife asks, I just got a new slide. (Is it my fault that it came with a gun under it?:))

Good thing, too. The stainless IMMEDIATELY went back to Ruger to get the sights properly aligned.

I think two guns that fit in the same holster, take the same magazines and have the same manual of arms is a great idea.

Darnit, I never believed my gunny friends that guns were like potato chips -- you can't just have one.

Now I feel a hankerin' for a itty bitty Kahr. :uhoh:

I've got one copy of my primary sidearm. Different finish, ambi controls, but otherwise identical. I'm in the process of changing to a different platform, so I've been putting off buying more copies.

Four identical sidearms is not too many. Keep at least one off-site (that is, not in your home or office.)
