CCW in purse - a bad idea

My wife carries her gun in her purse. It's a "carry purse" (Pistol Packing Mama, I believe is the brand name) with a dedicated compartment for the gun, with a built in holster. No problem getting to it. Even I can find it in a hurry. A couple of speed strips are in a zippered compartment.

There are a lot of people who don't think purse carry is the best idea. She thinks it's a lot better than leaving it at home.

a lady I know, who prefers 'off body' carry, made a semi-stiff divider that she could attach a holster to. I had pointed out the risk of getting something jammed in the barrel, and seeing my point, she made a few dividers to fit various purses.

they locate the pistol reliably, keep it secure, and since they tend to hold the pistol to the outside of the purse, help conceal it from casual view

S&W Airweight in a Pistol Packin' Momma purse is the wifes choice, and I applaud it. She has the Airweight literally in her hand inside the purse whenever she feels the need, and it shoots just fine from within (as tested on a cheaper copy just to try it).

Not only is it fast, it's quiet...

She carries only the minimum "other stuff" and the purse is very small and light.

Generalizations are just that: It's the specific case that is important to the individual. Who cares how much crap other people carry in their purse, if what YOU carry is well organized and you train with your system? I'm with Dan (oursafehome.net) who contributed a post a few above this one. He's a real world friend of mine, and he's dead-on with his assessment.
