At the office tonight I have spike tv on and that show the shield is on. Pretty much not paying attention just working and I hear the girl say who is at the police station asking if the officeer can help her get a carry permit, because a guy had been threatening her.

detective says: for what a gun?

She says: Yes.

Detective says: do you have one.

She says: what else was I supposed to do.

Detective says: (puts head in hands and says oh man,)

Girls apartment gets broken into......

She says: I would still like to get that carry permit.

detective say: yeah I dont think that is such a great idea.

.......Story goes on with out incident....

The show is still on. No mention of ccw.

That was in one of the first 3 seasons. I have it on DVD.

I was very upset by that because they make it seem as if CCW is a bad idea. I believe that she also said in one seen "You know how hard it is to get a gun permit?!" but I maybe thinking of a Law and Order episode. Either way I am tired of anti-gun bias on tv.

I believe the girl in this scene had a boyfriend or husband who was abusive or threatening to her. So she starts flirting and trying to date the cop. And she asks for help obtaining the CCW.

I remember one episode where Vic and his guys stop a Russian gangster and his bodyguard. And I remember the gangster saying his bodyguard has a carry permit. I guess the show is somewhat realistic.:neener:

Incorrect.

The woman was the wife of a serial rapist/murderer, who had no knowledge of his crimes. Even after his confession, she still couldn't believe it. She was extremely rude to the detective (Wagenbach) when he was arrested due to her presuming his innocence. When he confessed, and confessed to her, only then did she believe it. On the follow-up episode that everyone saw, her home was broken into, in addition to her recieving several threatening phone calls that she should suffer as much as her husband's victim's did. The detective shows up at the house feeling guilty, because she had apparently called a few weeks ago to apologize to him, and he never returned her calls due to being busy. Its THEN (after recieving threatening phone calls, and a break-in) that she asks for a permit to carry the gun she already owns, which he says he doesn't think is a good idea.

Of course, Dutch gets to say "I told you so" a few episodes later when Officer Sofer knocks on her door.

The show has a few moments I don't like, but I am still a fan.

Think about it: For realism, it's probably accurate.

The Shield takes place in Los Angeles. That's probably exactly how it would play out in real life..

Ever notice how cop shows (with the exception of CIS) almost always take place in NY or California? You never see one in say Texas or Montana where the local gun bias would probably be very different.

Instant flashback to one of my wife's favorite movies, "Miss Congeniality"

"Hey, I saw a gun"
"Look, this is Texas. My HAIRDRESSER has a gun!"

I'd have to say that the shield seems pretty accurate. Lawabiding citizens have great difficulty getting CCW permits, while the criminals don't even bother with such laws and therefore are always packing and thus a menace to the noncriminals.

Man I love the Shield. Was that scene on episode 3? I'm going to get the box set.

The Shield is an intense show, where else do you see the cheif of police was forced doing the nasty to a drugged out bad guy...do you guys remember THAT episode?

It's back in a couple of weeks

According to the quote below from the Wikipedia the show will return on April 3rd. This show has it all, pistols, rifles, shotguns, full auto, hand grenades...

Not a family show.

Season 6 is scheduled to start showing on FX on April 3, 2007, after the initial run of the new FX series, Dirt. Creator Shawn Ryan had previously stated this may be the last season,[5] but on June 5, 2006 FX announced The Shield has been renewed for a seventh and final season. Little is known about Season 6 at this point. What is known is that the majority of the season will deal with the fallout of Lem's death as Vic and the Strike Team ruthlessly hunt down Lem's killer, which, unbeknownst to Vic and Ronnie, is Strike Team member Shane.

First show I saw was the nerd detective choking the cat to death. Intense and disturbing are some words that come to mind. I'm amazed by how the raw humanity ( or lack of humanity) is portrayed by the director and cast.
