Words I never thought would come out of my GF's mouth

I finally got my girlfriend to the range two weeks ago. She wasn't anti though and has been looking forward to going. She did admit though to being scared by them.

My advise, show her the operational basics at home. Things like safe handling, grip, aiming etc. Get her comfortable with it before she gets to the range. I think my girlfriend was worried about not knowing what to do in front of others at the range.

When you get to the range every shot she takes is a good shot, even if it's barely on the paper. I was impressed with my girlfriend as the day went on. She was actually hitting the 7 ring or better at 15 feet pretty quickly. Got more then a few bullseyes too.

Mr perpetrator better watch out if he comes into the house when she's home alone.

Hummmm, now I just have to figure a way to get her to clean the gun when she's done using it. Oh well, one thing at a time. ;)

I think GoRon nailed it. It wasn;t that she didn't believe you, she just didn't understand what you were trying to teach. It took something she can relate to, to complete the puzzle.
Better she get that last piece from a TV show than to get it from hands on experience.

Now your GF can spread the word to her anti friends in terms they can understand.

It doesn't matter how a person learns as long as they learn.

My wife of 28 years has always been pro gun. About twenty years ago, her sister was shot and killed by her estranged husband who used his Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. He did have the decency to turn the gun on himself and kill himself. After that, my wife was still pro gun and stated numerous times that the problem was with her brother-in-law, not the gun.
To this day, she carries a S&W 357 in the car and always makes sure that I am carrying when ever we are in a less than secure areas, such as the French Quarter in New Orleans.

90210 had a favorable portrayal of gun use? I may have to reconsider my judgements of that show!

Don't start watching it now. If you keep it up you'll soon realize that its one of the most anti-gun pieces of tripe ever made. They have had SEVERAL episodes dedicated to the "dangers" and "irresponsibility" of gun ownership, all the way up to the point of having at least one periphrial character kill himself with an ND.

I was looking with my fiance, for a carry gun for her...
When the sales guy asked if she wanted "that one", she said "we'll take both" (I had been eyeing up a new Kimber Ultra CDP). I never dreamed of leaving that day with a wonderful pistol for me... for the record, I proposed marriage BEFORE she bought me a nice pistol!
She was a bit anti when we first met... but about a month after we met she was hit on the head with a pistol (by 2 muggers). She needed stiches, but was otherwise O.K. (minus one purse). We had just met, yet I was never so angry before. I wished I could have been there. I can't always be there... and quite honestly, she can handle herself pretty well now. Before this incident she did not think she would be capable of shooting an assailant. NOW, the BGs had better think twice!
I hope more women learn from other peoples experiences, its easier that way.

Exactly why I am trying so hard to get my gf prepared. I know she can't carry yet since WI doesn't have have CCW, but maybe next year, and the sooner she starts, the more proficient she'll be. It's too bad a majority of women don't think to protect themselves until after the fact.....
