Anyone know about Goldsboro or Greenville? I'm going to be moving to goldsboro in two weeks and I will keep my michigan permit but would like to obtain a NC permit as well.
I took my CCW class in Wayne county but registered for my permit in Pitt count, took a little over a month if I remember correctly. There's a retired sheriff thar runs a range in southern Wayne county who does the course for a reasonable fee.

It really depends on which county you live in. When I first got mine, I lived in Mecklenburg County. They took the entire 90 days. My wife got hers last year. We now live in Catawba County. Hers took just over 1 month. I am sure the difference is that the population of Mecklenburg county is many times higher than it is in Catawba County so there are many more applications to process. I'd go ahead and get that pistol permit. It is a one page app and $5. No big deal.

still waiting in Person County

I submitted paperwork and was fingerprinted on April 29th. It is now May 28th .... 30 days and I have not heard back yet. They told me usually 4-6 weeks but up to 90 days. BTW I am new to this websiet and this is my first reply!

Welcome to THR. The permits seem to have been gradually taking longer over the last couple years - I hear that nationwide CCW permit applications have been rising greatly, so this may be part of the reason.

mike7465 Does anyone know if the Meck CCW instructors write down pistol serial numbers?

as to weather the mecklenburg county instructors write down serial numbers YES. Why you have a stolen gun?

Are you serious?

Moore County took 61 days for our permits. There was a stack of folders a foot and a half high on the desk waiting for people to pick up the permits too.

ccw

91 days and counting in durham county....does anybody know if they have to finish by that 90 day .

They are required by law to tell you 'yes' or 'no' within 90 days.

Being in Durham, it's no surprise they waited that long. Everything I had heard is that they are extremely anti-CCW.

Call them up, tell them it has been 91 days and you want an immediate answer. If you want to really get their goat, tell them you are considering suing them for violating your civil rights.

Mine took two weeks by the way.

I'm in Mecklenburg county. I took the class the first week of August. Then I had to make an appointment to apply for the license. That was about three weeks, so late August-early September. I got my license on Oct. 23.

ccw in durham

yeah i have called 3 times now. last call after i posted last at least got some good news they said i have been aproved, but dont have card they said they lol cant find it but should have new card ordered by next week. My advice dont ever file in durham co.( guess it dont take much smarts to get city job in this town)

Exactly 90 days in Wake County over 5 years ago. The good news is we were granted emergency permits by the Sheriff -- a "situation" arose which made it necessary.

Granville County recently took 90 days for a friend of mine.

6-7 weeks in Wilkes Co, NC.

There was an "issue" with the quality of my fingerprints though. Had to redo them after the paperwork had gone to Raleigh.

Also, I ended up calling them finally...and they told me "It's in" referring to my CHP. I got the impression that it hadn't arrived that exact day...so who knows. Obviously they weren't too enthusiastic to get it to me, but I think it was more general malaise than anti-gun sentiment.

Cabarrus County

Applied: August 6th, 2008

Status: Still waiting

Anyone else had experience with the cabarrus county on CCW permit applications?

I applied for my second renewal on June 3, 2008 and received my permit, good for 5 years, on August 19, 2008 (Caldwell County, NC).
