Where is a good source to find info about CCW from state to state? I am going from Florida to Texas and would like to know what I need to do for CCW during the 2 weeks I am in Dallas. I have a valid CCW in FL.

packing.org is no more. go to the link above, click on texas (or any other state you might find yourself in) and a pdf summary of the state's gun laws will pop up. This is not directly taken from the penal code, but it gives you a pretty good idea what the law says. Mostly, don't take it into a court (or offices of the court/governmental body meetings), church, hospital, school, jail (or facilities which house a jail, such as most police stations), or within 1000 feet of an execution on the day of said execution. And don't carry to a polling place on election day. Or in a bar. Sounds rough, but mostly you just have to look out for "30.06" signs. The sign must be displayed prominently near all entrances of a building, in both spanish & english, in contrasting block letters at least 1" in height, stating "Pursuant to section 30.06 of the Texas Penal Code, the carrying of a blah, blah blah, prohibited on these premesis." The law is quite clear about the wording, placement, and typeset of these signs. But bars merely need to display the numbers "51" in a similar fashion, but 5" tall. Those two signs are what you have to look out for. Everything else is pretty much free game. If you're hunting, look out for no trespassing signs, or purple ribbons/paint tied around the trunks of trees at eye level. These are legal warnings not to carry a gun onto private property. That's most of the law right there, in my own words. Hopefully this will be helpful.

I miss packing.org :(

I was always surprised that it wasn't picked up by an organization. Hopefully, somebody will be able to reincarnate it.
