Never leave your gun in a holster.
I'm with RetiredUSNChief and rogerjames; this is bad advice. The situation described in post #9 wasn't caused by leaving the gun in the holster.

I'm a strong advocate of leaving your carry gun in the holster. Constant unholstering and re-holstering and loading and unloading simply increases the chances for a negligent discharge: The vast majority of negligent discharges that I've seen or heard of involved at least one of those activities. But I've never heard of a negligent discharge happening when the gun was properly secured in a holster.

Also, constant loading and unloading of a semi-auto will eventually cause bullet setback in the round being repeatedly loaded into the chamber (unless rotated, this ends up being just two rounds that get chambered repeatedly). Just keeping the gun in the holster and keeping it loaded stops this from happening.

I carry all the the time unless I'm in bed or in the shower. I just find it simpler than securing guns around my house where I can get to them easily. And when I disarm, my gun stays in the holster and goes into my safe, simple as that.
