I went a gun show today and seen for the first time the Charles Daly 1911.
I was really impressed by the quality of the gun for the money. I never fired one so I really can't say much more except it looked awfully good and had about $725 price tag on it. One had an internal extractor and another model had an external extractor. Alot of options.:)

You did not say which model you were looking at but, I got my EFS, full size, $430 out the door. You may want to shop around.
If you can spring that type of money [$725] you can buy many other brands of 1911s.

Good shooting.

Get a Springfield Armory mil-spec or mil-spec WW2(both under $500,closer to $400), Ive owned CD and altho it looked good there were many problems with it. I had to send the CD back to the factory after 3 days, hadnt even shot it, I noticed a problem with the grip safety....they emailed and asked what I wanted to pay to fix the gun...so much for their lifetime warranty. After weeks of phone calls and a real pain in the ??? I got the gun back and immediately sold it(after 45 days). I'll never buy one their products again...once was enough for me. Dont be fooled by a nice looking gun on the outside, the insides are crappy. Mismatched parts and crappy machine work seems to their standard.

I wasn't going to buy one, just lookin'. But as you guys have mentioned, looks aren't everything.
I have a Caspian, it is all I need.:)

The CD might be okay as a first gun, but for the money, the greater value is in the Springfield Mil Spec.
