There is a section on Charles Daly that will answer all your questions. I have a EMS that I have had since last March and think it is a great pistol for the money.
No experience with the Officer size model but have handled and fired sever Dalys. They seem to be pretty hit and miss though that can be said about many companies these days. If you're set on one, handle several of them and take the best. If something ain't right, send it back. They seem to repair problems reasonably well.
Also be sure to negotiate a good price. I've seen some shops (and booths at gun shows) selling them for $550-$600 and they certainly are NOT worth that.
I'm rather fond of my CD, never had a problem and still have all the parts that the people on 1911forum told me I would have to buy to make it run. Those part look real good at the bottom of the sock drawer!
Mine is a full size model, oddly enough, the mags mine likes best are the factory ones!?!
I'll try to post an image but I rarely have luck with it.
The first set of CD's years back were rather hit or miss. The quality of the parts and the overall firearms seems to have increased over the years. I have 2 a full size field grade and an officer's field grade. After getting some quality magazines, they both are 100% reliable and as accurate as any other 1911 in the $800 or less price range.
