Grayrider Please tell me more about the Isreal weapons,I have a close friend
(church member) who is looking for a good 45,right now he has a Taurus 45,
the slim model, but his thumb keeps hitting the mag release,so he wants a slim model 45,single stack, but the only reason he likes to Taurus is because
it gives him 10 shots compared to 6 from others.I told him to look at the Glock
He has a very slim frame body wants to use it for concealment carry,Would the Isreal weapons be something for him to look into,He also say's he is willing to pay around $800.00 if needed.

A little less than a year ago I purchased (new) a Charles Daly Field Slug 12ga Auto. Heck of a deal. No manual was included in the box. I went to the website and jumped through the appropriate hoops on two separate occasions to order a manual, but nothing ever came. Sure would like to get the manual for the gun, but going through the website seems like a dead end.

Gun sure is nice, though.

Mr Kassnar:

I was quite impressed with the Charles Daily Superior II Rim fire Rifle. Is that rifle still currently available and If so where may it be purchased. I realize that Remington is currently offering this rifle (in a modified version) but they have chosen to "cheapen" it with plastic trigger Guard. I much prefer the original configuration. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA
RonSC

True to his word, I received a check today less than five days after his post in this thread. Where I have to use a toll number to contact SIG, and wait over a month for a vague, furtive email reply from Beretta, it is refreshing.

Good luck Mr. Kassnar with your CD turn around efforts.

I've got a little time this Sunday before the games start so I'll try to answer some of the latest posts:

Grayrider: John, thank you for your post. I am well familiar with the CZ platform. It was our company that brought the Jericho 941 to market! IMI later took it away from us and gave it to Magnum Research (that seems to happen a lot to us...).

As you mentioned, Armscor has their new Tanfoglio derived line, IWI (formerly IMI) sells the Baby Eagle through MR, Tanfoglio sells through EAA and Bul has the Cherokee. All of the IWI products are tied up right now with MR and I doubt if they would be willing to break the line apart. I think Legacy will be offering the Bul Cherokee. Armalite is offering the Turkish Sarsilmaz CZ based gun.

Is there really room in the market for another CZ based pistol? It seems to us that Americans are buying more striker-fired guns than anything else. The Springfield XD, Glock, S&W M&P, the new Ruger, Taurus...this is where the volume is today.

mr camera man: The VRA (Voluntary Restraint Agreement) only restricts Russian firearms. Thanks to Clinton, it is permissable to import SKS's and Makarovs from Bulgaria, Serbia, etc., just not Russia.

dleong: Glad to hear your part arrived in good order.

postpostban: Thanks for your suggestion. I have our resident geek working on just such a program. Like ordering a computer online, you will be able to build your AR/M4 and see the cost of it as you add each feature/specification. I don't know when we will be launching this but will certainly post on THR when it's ready.

FYI, we built our D-M4LE with the specs of a 6920 with minimal accessorizing. That way you have the basic platform at a reasonable cost and you don't have too many expensive parts that are going to be replaced.

I do not see us embracing a MAP program for our products.

lorddal: Is your CD Hawken made in Italy or Spain? We have some parts for the old Italian guns but none for the Spanish. LMK and if it's Italian I will have our staff look for a barrel.

Richbaker: I have heard many good stories about Ruger customer service. I even have several of their firearms in my collection (SP101, 10/22, Mini-14). They are good guns for the money.

chauncey: Thanks for your input re: Garand/M14 type guns. This project is coming along at a snails pace. Your comments will help us in the development process.

adkpete: We are launching a complete redesign or our Charles Daly website very soon, perhaps by the end of this week. Unfortunately we stopped updating the old site during development of the new one.

ScottS: Please send me a PM with your address and I will make sure we get a mnaual to you right away.

RonSC: As you mentioned, Remington is now selling this rifle as the Model 5. (Imagine that, Remington selling a .22 with less quality for more money than the Charles Daly.) CDNN may still have some remaining. I would try giving them a call at (800) 588-9500.

Well, that's it for today. I'm going to watch some football!

Mr Kassnar, just wanted to mention that your presence on this forum has generated at least one sale you otherwise may not have had. A friend was looking for an inexpensive Single Action Army cowboy gun and came to me for advice. While I have not personally owned any Charles Daly products, they have a spotty reputation on the Internet. Had I not read your posts here I would not have recommended one of your products. However, the sincerety conveyed in your posts compelled me to put the good word in for the Charles Daly brand.

My friend decided to purchase a Charles Daly SAA this weekend. Congratulations, your presence is already helping your company!

Australian AIA M-10 Enfield type rifles

Earlier I asked if there is a chance your company might be importing these in the future?

Thanks for hearing us out - as others have posted before, thank you for listening, and it's ashame more gun company execs don't do this...

And Go Pats! :D

Wow! Somehow I have managed to miss this thread until now.

While I have no experience with CD, this may have to change. Charles Daly, I must say I am thoroughly impressed at the idea that the president of the company is interested enough in the opinions of both actual and perspective customers that he would be compelled to deal with each of these folks on an individual basis via internet forums. Well done.

Semi-Auto .223

I think it would be great if you could create a sub $500 .223 semi-auto rifle that uses AR mags. Some thing that'll out perform the Mini-14's accuracy and is California compliant.

Also, how about a pistol caliber carbine.

WOW !
What Fantastic Service !

I told Mr. Kassnar about the safety breaking on my CD 1911 .
He said he would send a pick-up slip for a Fed-ex overnight to them .
Sent it 1-14-08 came back fixed up good as new 1-21-08 !
Shipped both ways on their dime .

Mr. K Thank You very much .
I would like to know did your new shipment of 1911's come in yet ?

Thanks again , Bill

WOW ! This is great! Talk about a good feeling, any prospective buyer to the CD line can come here and hear straight from the horses mouth. I like that. Mr. Kassnar.....you just may be on to something here. I have noticed Charles daily firearms at the local gunstore in Kentucky here (Whitakers guns) for some time now. I must say ill be heading back TODAY to get that CD 12ga that was staring me down yesterday.
You have come to this forum admitting that there was a problem in the past, and from the looks of things you are making things right. Taking care of customers with issues, offering an insight to your future product lines and answering questions/recieving comments DIRECTLY from your past and future customers. What a great idea ! Honest fixing of mistakes and good information for prospective buyers ! A+

Mr. Kassnar thanks for coming here and listening to us shooters.

I looked at your AR 15 rifles and if ammo drops some on prices i may buy one. I like the model that looked like the vietnam era guns with the tapered forearm and solid butt. Don't remember the model number though.

I called CDNN and ask about the 22 bolts about two weeks ago after reading about them on RFC. They said that they are sold out.

I've never own a CD gun but that may change soon.

Mr Kassnar, a few years back, I was looking for a new Mule-ear Shotgun for Cowboy Action, and took a chance after reading a short review of the Liberty II, Against the advice of some people. I cant say enough how glad I am that I did so. Fit and finish were excellent, it locks up like a Vault, and has given me ZERO problems. Thanks for making a great product.

We acquired the Charles Daly brand in 1997. Your riflescope was sold by the previous owner of the brand, Outdoor Sports Headquarters, Inc., a wholesaler who is still in business today. If anyone has a Charles Daly riflescope that requires service, I suggest you contact them about the "Lifetime Warranty" on their product.

But if you bought the company, didn't you also assume responsibility for warranties promised with the purchase of your company's products? If new owners bought Ford Motor Co., I would find it difficult to believe that any guarantees would become invalidated.

Thanks,
Mike

Jokkmike:

KBI bought the Charles Daly trademark in 1997, not the "company". If there was a Chalrles Daly factory, and we bought that, then I would agree with you that we would have some responsibility for the products that that factory produced.

This is completely different. Charles Daly branded products have been sold in the US since 1865, by many different owners of the brand long after Mr. Daly sold the brand in the late 1800's. There never was a Charles Daly "factory".

We have no way of knowing what was the origin or QC of Daly products imported by other companies. We have no way to obtain parts for Daly products imported by other companies.

We simply cannot warranty or service Charles Daly products not imported by or manufactured for, or by our company.

I don't have anything to do with CD but I can answer that question. It depends upon how and what was purchased. The name of the company itself has little to do with the products. When working in the corp. world I was involved in several "mergers" and each one had a completely different set of do's and don't covers, carries, etc.

Michael,

You are right, there seems to be a rush of clones coming in right now. I was involved quite a bit in the Sarsilmaz/ArmaLite project as well. I had not heard about Legacy bringing in the Cherokee. Interesting. I would say if you can flesh out the M5 line completely, you will have something really interesting to offer American shooters. I have long thought than an affordable STI-like pistol would be well received, if high capacity magazines were available in quantity at reasonable prices. Of course calibers like 40 and 9mm would be a must for IPSC use. As mentioned in my IM, if you bring those in I will buy. Let me know when I can put my name on the list.

:D

Mr Kassnar I do believe my cd Hawkens is a Spanish one but I will double check that and get back to you about it thanks for looking into it for me I love my CD Hawkens and hope to buy More Cd Brand soon

Being a former customer of Charles Daly I have to share my experience.

Charles Daly has disappointed me in every way. I have tried to contact the company on several occasions including numerous failed attempts to register warranty on three products I purchased within months of each other. The only reason I bought items I did is because I desperately wanted these guns - that at the time only you imported (EAA is doing it now).

All the e-mails were left unanswered, my warranty never registered. Nine to ten months after my last communication I did get an e-mail from the president himself! But instead of an answer to ANY of my emails what I got was a request to remove one picture that I used from CD web site on mine. Options you gave me were to either remove it or PAY for licensing.

Shame on you! Three products I paid you for, I got no service for the one that did need it and you dare ask for more money. And for what? A single JPEG picture of a product that you are not even carrying anymore. That inspired you to write to me; not any of my failed attempts to contact you for service that you promised.

One of purchased products required servicing just last October. Then I found out from a person that used to own one of the same guns that he had the same issue as I did. He sent the product for service to CD, and got it back scratched and with a note that everything is ok with it! Great customer service.
Fortunately EAA is now carrying that product and their service was exemplary. They got a warranty claim item and since the armorer could not find the cause of the problem it was replaced with a brand new item.

It's easy to blame everything that's wrong with your business model on one Customer Service Manager. He did work for you for 21 years. You did (or should have done) his performance reviews. I just can't believe that you as a president did not know what was going on in your company and that you can date strap all of CD's bad reputation on the backs of one CSM which you apparently trusted enough to employ him for 21 years.

Maybe these few acts of 'kindness' to an occasional reader may seem impressive enough to consider your products but as someone that was treated the way I was, I know much better, as do a lot of other people out there.

Having seen the true way you conduct business and I will NEVER make a mistake of buying anything else from your company despite how bad I want the product.

I don't own but have considered purchasing a Charles Daly on a couple of occasions. During my research on the forums I have taken note of the customer service issue.

One of the firearms that I wish some manufacturer would produce (or you would import) is a reasonably priced major pistol caliber semiauto carbine, in .45 ACP and perhaps 10mm or .30 Carbine. I don't think there is such an item available now. People still speak fondly of the Ruger .44 and the Marlin Camp Carbine in .45, both out of production. GlockTalkers (I'm one) fantasize about a GLOCK carbine. The HK and the Beretta are too expensive. The High Point seems to be doing well in 9mm and .40 S&W but there is no .45. I have to load my Ruger PC4 with Double Tap Ammo to get decent power from it. If you make it I promise I will buy (at least) one! People that like these firearms are generally satisfied with the typical 10 round pistol magazines that they use, especially when they own the pistol too. And pistol ammo is still much cheaper than rifle ammo.
